I mistakenly placed a bet online with William Hill 4 days after this event finished. £63 win on Jason Day at 8/1. I asked them to refund my money and they refused. They claimed the bet had been settled according to their rules!!.

The questions I want answering are these.
Why were they still displaying this market on their site
Why was my bet accepted when it was obviously a mistake
If I'd backed the winner would they have still paid out (I think we all know the answer to that one)
Why is the bet still showing as an open bet on my account page

Seems very odd that they haven't simply voided the bet (it's even stranger that they accepted it in the first place) and I don't see how their 'rules' could point to any other course of action.

This may be a stupid question, but is it just possible that you inadvertently placed the bet for the 2017 USPGA Championship? That would at least explain why they were offering odds and why your bet is still showing as open in your account. It might be worth just checking the details of the bet again.
