New Hampshire Sports Betting – Legal NH Sportsbooks in 2023

New Hampshire sports fans have had access to legal sports betting action since 2019. Land-based sports betting is available at a few different venues and there is one online betting platform licensed in the state, which is DraftKings.

But there are some restrictions with DraftKings Sportsbook in that U.S. bettors cannot bet on New Hampshire college teams or any college sports being played in the state. This is where offshore sportsbooks come in.

Yes, it was in 2019 when legal sports betting laws were passed in New Hampshire for both retail sports betting and online sports betting. In 2021, more sports betting laws were passed as it was determined that up to 10 sportsbook brands could open physical locations in the state, but so far only DraftKings is available.

The legal age for sports betting is only 18 in New Hampshire. But if users want to expand their options for sports betting, they must try out the offshore sportsbooks we are about to review in the next section.

The Best Sportsbooks for New Hampshire Compared

We gave you a list of our top 10 offshore betting sites, but now we are going to provide in-depth reviews with the pros and cons for each. All these sites will allow you to do college betting on any teams you want. You will also find many forms of sports betting available from parlays to futures bets to props and live bets. But the total package of bonuses, payment methods, mobile design and more is what we used to rank these sites, which are all located offshore in places such as Costa Rica, Panama and Antigua where online gambling is legal.

1. BookMaker: Best Value for Early Lines

Bookmaker.eu

Our top-rated offshore sportsbook is Bookmaker.eu, which has earned its reputation well from Costa Rica as the premiere site for posting the earliest lines in sports betting. Since 1996, BookMaker has been a favorite of sharp bettors as it posts those early lines, does not ban winning players like other sportsbooks and the limits here are high. It is the ideal spot for high rollers and anyone looking to get serious about their sports betting.

With one of the best mobile sites, you can do live betting on a wide variety of markets and leagues at all times of the day. BookMaker also has plenty of props, including unique markets like the ability to bet on a player not to score a touchdown in popular NFL games. BookMaker also has special promotions like reduced juice (-108 lines) for all sides and totals bets during the NBA postseason.

New users can enjoy a $500 cash bonus on their initial deposit. BookMaker also has one of the best refer-a-friend programs with up to $500 per friend and there is no limit to how many friends you can refer. They just have to deposit a minimum amount and play through it at least once on the sportsbook.

Finally, BookMaker has a top-tier reward program that consists of three levels with users able to enjoy excellent deposit bonuses. Keep in mind that the third level is only reserved for recreational accounts, so you may need to contact customer service to see if you qualify for that. But otherwise, BookMaker is an excellent choice for anyone looking to consistently bet on sports at the highest level or want to enjoy one of the most popular online casino games in BookMaker’s comprehensive casino.

Pros:

  • Best for early betting lines
  • Quality mobile site design
  • Plenty of sports to bet on
  • Good for unique props
  • Top-tier loyalty program
  • Winning players do not get limited

Cons:

  • Some competitors have a better prop builder
  • Not as many casino games as top rivals

2. Heritage Sports: Top Betting Site for Cashback

Heritage Sports homepage

Once a site that was invite-only, Heritage Sports is open to all users in New Hampshire today. You will get one of the finest sportsbooks and online casinos with many markets and competitive odds. The live betting section works great on the mobile site and with so many international markets available, you will find something to bet on every hour of the day.

Your betting volume matters too because users at Heritage Sports get a quarterly rebate for their sports betting handle. The bonus funds at Heritage Sports can be used anywhere on the site with no restriction and you can also earn them on the racebook and casino too. There is also esports betting available for popular markets.

The reduced juice offers -108 lines for a variety of popular leagues. The combo of reduced juice and cashback makes up for the smaller bonus offers given to new users at the site. You also can get a free birthday parlay worth up to $500 and every eighth deposit is free on the house if you go seven deposits without a payout.

BookMaker gets lines up faster, but Heritage Sports does a good job of getting lines out early for MLB (the night before) and NFL (Sunday night the week before). You also will find more than enough props to bet on.

Pros:

  • Reduced juice (-108) available for many markets
  • Good online platform for live betting
  • Many international leagues offered
  • Bonus funds can be used anywhere
  • Get a free birthday parlay (max value: $500)
  • Reasonable rollover requirements

Cons:

  • Not as much same-game parlay flexibility
  • Smaller sign-up bonuses than most rivals

3. Bovada: Extensive Player Prop Options

Bovada Sportsbook Homepage

Bovada is well known for its online poker offerings, but you also get one of the best offshore sportsbooks in addition to being one of the most comprehensive casinos around. It is a great choice for both novice users and experienced high rollers. The site is neatly designed and works well as a mobile site that you can add to your home screen to act like a regular app.

The prop builder at Bovada is our favorite around with many choices in popular markets and you can even suggest your own props or specials be added to the site. They have some of the best bets for futures markets as well. There are many niche sports to choose from too, including chess, snooker and table tennis.

The biggest knock on Bovada would be the lack of ongoing promos for existing users, including frequent risk-free bets and any daily rebates on the racebook. But they do make up for this by offering generous welcome bonuses and a reward program where your points never expire and you never go down in loyalty level. Those points can be redeemed for bonus cash or tickets for poker tournaments which are a favorite among poker fans.

Pros:

  • Elite prop builder
  • Suggest your own props and specials
  • Great site layout and design
  • Best pick for poker fans
  • Points in the reward program never expire

Cons:

  • Returning users do not get as many promos
  • Crypto banking options have better bonuses

4. BetOnline: Great for Opinionated Lines

BetOnline Homepage

BetOnline has a great all-around online gambling experience, but the sportsbook is definitely a highlight of what it has to offer. The sportsbook has opinionated lines, meaning you will see lines of -107 vs. -113 instead of choosing between standard -110 lines for both sides. These opinionated lines are available for a wide variety of markets and there is also reduced juice specifically for NHL markets, so that is a big win if you love hockey more than anything.

You will also find very good alternate lines for prop picks at BetOnline, even outdoing the alternate lines found at DraftKings most of the time for popular sports like basketball and football.

BetOnline also has high limits and fast payouts, making it an ideal spot for high rollers. They have diverse payment methods available and the welcome bonuses are great with a sports betting bonus worth up to $1,000 as a 50% deposit match. You also can play in fun contests to win big prizes and many are free to enter. For sports bettors who enjoy casino gambling on the side, BetOnline features a wide selection of slots and table games and boasts the third busiest poker network in the United States.

Pros:

  • NHL markets have reduced juice
  • Opinionated sports betting lines
  • A wide variety of niche sports and international leagues
  • Fun sports promos for a variety of leagues
  • Solid welcome bonuses
  • Poker tournaments available

Cons:

  • Needs more reduced juice than just hockey
  • Not our favorite prop builder on the list

5. BetAnySports: Best Reduced Juice

BetAnySports Homepage

If you use BetAnySports, you will get the best reduced juice around with lines as low as -105 over the standard -110 offered at other sites. The only issue is finding those -105 lines because the sportsbook can be very confusing at first. It offers five different links to sports betting lines, but once you figure out the differences in those links, you will find this is deserving of a high ranking as the top offshore sportsbooks for New Hampshire users.

Beyond the reduced juice, you will find one of our favorite prop builders around and some solid bonus offers. The site, for all its shortcomings in the design, is also easy enough to use to do live betting on a variety of markets. You also get some great casino options and a very unique lottery section to play your favorite numbers with 80% better payouts.

Pros:

  • Best reduced juice (-105)
  • Good for live sports wagers
  • Prop builder is solid
  • Good selection of sports and leagues
  • Fun casino and unique lottery section

Cons:

  • Confusing sportsbook layout
  • Smaller bonuses than other online betting sites

6. BetUS: Dedicated Expert Analysis

BetUS homepage

Since 1994, BetUS has been providing bettors with quality markets for sports betting, horse racing, casino gaming and more. They do not have a poker room, but they have informative guides on how to get better at gambling, including blackjack. They also have BetUS TV, a YouTube channel that features original content with expert picks and predictions for all the sports you could want at no extra cost. Other sites should copy this perk.

BetUS also offers some of the most unique welcome bonuses as you can get over 100% of your initial deposit matched in bonus funds that are split between the sportsbook and casino, encouraging users to try out both parts of the site. However, BetUS does have some of the highest rollover requirements on their bonuses of any site on our list, so keep that in mind.

Pros:

  • Unique welcome bonuses
  • Informative gambling guides available
  • Expert picks and analysis on YouTube channel
  • Decades of satisfying customers

Cons:

  • Other sports betting sites have much better props
  • Some of the highest rollover requirements

7. WagerWeb: Crypto Fans’ Favorite

WagerWeb Homepage

If you like Heritage Sports, then you will notice some similarities with WagerWeb and the way it handles cashback, esports, live betting and a great online casino section. You could even argue there are some improvements over Heritage Sports with true parlay odds and a fun NFL contest offered each week during the season.

But we still rank WagerWeb lower than Heritage Sports because the overall generous promos are too in favor of those who use Bitcoin and MoneyGram to make their deposits. They should allow more flexibility and other forms of crypto for those bonuses, including Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash and Litecoin. You also have to go nine deposits without a payout to get a free 10th deposit whereas Heritage Sports does every eighth deposit on the house.

Finally, customer service does not open until 10:00 AM at WagerWeb. But if you like using crypto and want to enjoy good live betting and esports, then this is a great choice to use as one of your primary sportsbooks.

Pros:

  • True parlay odds offered
  • Free NFL contest each week during the regular season
  • Good esports section
  • Great welcome bonuses for Bitcoin users
  • Reduced juice available

Cons:

  • Customer service is not 24/7
  • Non-crypto promos are not as good

8. JustBet: Convenient Reload Bonuses

JustBet Sportsbook Homepage

JustBet is a sister site to Bookmaker.eu, our No. 1 online sportsbook from Costa Rica. You get the best that separates BookMaker from the competition, including the earliest sports betting lines in the industry. Winning players do not get limited and with high limits, the JustBet and BookMaker model is ideal for high rollers who love betting on sides, totals and moneyline picks for their sports wagers.

There are good live betting markets on a decent mobile site and new users can get up to a $500 cash bonus based on their initial deposit. You also can enjoy the same three-tier reward program that BookMaker has.

We only rank JustBet lower because it does not improve on the BookMaker model. You still get a site that has fewer props than Bovada, no poker room to compete with the top dogs in that space and not as many exciting casino games as BetOnline. But for sports bettors who love the BookMaker model, JustBet is worth trying out for the welcome bonus alone.

Pros:

  • Early lines similar to BookMaker
  • Same great reward program as BookMaker
  • Solid mobile site for live betting
  • Good limits for high rollers

Cons:

  • No poker room

9. Everygame: Optimal Site Design

Everygame Sportsbook Homepage

Out of all the online sports betting operators on our list, Everygame is one of the only three not located in Costa Rica. The Antigua-based company was long known as Intertops before changing its name to celebrate its 25th anniversary for offering legal online sports wagers and casino gaming.

The new site has a great design as good as any on our list. They also live up to the new name by offering a wide variety of sports, including major leagues, niche sports and international leagues. They have horse racing markets for the biggest races (Kentucky Derby) but there is no dedicated racebook section. Still, the sportsbook has more than enough options for sports bettors to enjoy. You can enjoy these options to a greater extent by taking advantage of one of the multiple Everygame bonus offers that are available.

However, Everygame works best for fans of casino gaming and online poker (tournaments and cash games are available with the free downloadable online poker software) who are not hardcore sports bettors. If you like your casino games and want to take advantage of some generous promos, then Everygame is definitely worth a try.

Pros:

  • Excellent site design and layout
  • Plenty of niche sports and international leagues
  • Non-sports betting markets are available (stocks and politics)
  • Great casino and poker software
  • Respectable welcome bonuses to get started

Cons:

  • More for casual sports bettors
  • No separate racebook section

10. SportsBetting.ag: Fun Sports Promos and Contests

Sportsbetting Homepage

If BetOnline tickles your fancy, then you will enjoy SportsBetting.ag as it is a sister site. That means the same poker network, the same combo of high limits and fast payouts and even the same generous sports promos, including insurance bets for your NBA team blowing a 15-point lead after halftime or your NHL team getting shutout.

If you are a BetOnline fan, then you can sign up for SportsBetting and enjoy the welcome bonus and a very familiar experience. The current welcome bonus on the sportsbook is a 50% bonus up to $1,000 on your first deposit.

Pros:

  • Sister site of BetOnline
  • High limits and fast payouts
  • Poker room available
  • Unique sports promos just like BetOnline
  • Generous welcome bonuses

Cons:

  • Site design could use
  • Credit card fees for deposits

Our Online Sportsbook Rating Methodology

We will get into our rating methods below, but we believe sports bettors will get the best experience with sports betting operators if they offer competitive odds, a wide variety of markets, generous bonuses, useful customer service, good security and live betting done right on a quality mobile interface. The sports betting industry is very competitive, but some sites just outclass others in these key metrics.

The History of Gambling Laws in New Hampshire

If you know your sports betting history in America, then you should be familiar with the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act, widely known as PASPA. With PASPA outlawing sports betting in most of the country since 1992, it was not until the Supreme Court overturned it in 2018 that we started to see a massive change in the landscape of sports betting laws.

It was in 2019 that New Hampshire became the 16th state to approve sports betting with gaming laws signed by Gov. Chris Sununu. This approved in-person sports betting at retail locations with retail sportsbooks like DraftKings Sportsbook, which would gain market exclusivity in the state as the only licensed sportsbook. DraftKings also offers its popular Daily Fantasy Sports contests to New Hampshire players.

Despite DraftKings’ monopoly on sports betting in the state, it was in 2021 when another bill was passed to allow for up to 10 retail locations for sportsbooks in the state at one time. However, DraftKings remains the only legal operator with retail locations where you can wager in person at The Brook and Filotimo Casino Restaurant. The 2021 bill also legalized in-game betting.

For 2022, the sports betting revenue was $66.4 million with a reported $891.7 million as the total monthly betting handle. Profits could increase if DraftKings launches DK Horse, its platform for horse racing bets, in New Hampshire soon after it launched in 12 states in March 2023.

Timeline of Gambling in New Hampshire

New Hampshire’s journey through the world of gambling and sports betting is marked by significant legislative changes and the evolution of the industry. From the imposition of the federal PASPA law in 1992, which restricted sports betting across the nation, to the momentous Supreme Court decision in 2018 that granted states the authority to legalize sports betting, New Hampshire has experienced a transformative shift.

  • November 2021: New Hampshire sets a new record for monthly sports betting handle with over $62 million in bets placed.
  • October 2021: New Hampshire introduces a bill to allow for in-game sports betting.
  • August 2021: The New Hampshire Lottery announces that it has generated over $20 million in revenue from sports betting since its launch.
  • May 2021: New Hampshire becomes the first state in New England to surpass $1 billion in total sports betting handle.
  • March 2020: Retail sports betting launches at ten locations throughout the state.
  • January 2020: The New Hampshire Lottery Commission approves a contract with DraftKings to operate sports betting in the state.
  • December 2019: DraftKings launches the first mobile sports betting app in New Hampshire.
  • 2019: Sports betting is legalized in New Hampshire, bringing retail sportsbooks to in-person gambling establishments.
  • 2018: The Supreme Court determined PASPA was unconstitutional, giving states the right to vote for legal sports betting.
  • 1992: Congress passed PASPA, which effectively prohibited sports betting in most of the country.

The timeline of gambling in New Hampshire reflects the state’s dynamic journey in embracing sports betting. As evidenced by the substantial sports handle and revenue figures in 2022, the appetite for sports betting in New Hampshire continues to grow. With ongoing developments such as the launch of DK Horse, the state’s gambling landscape remains in a state of flux, poised for further evolution in the years to come.

Key Features of the Best Online Sportsbooks

In the following sections, we are looking at the key features that go into our grading system to find the best sports betting operators for New Hampshire users to enjoy.

Betting Odds

Most sites will stick to a competitive market with the odds they offer on the sportsbook, but some do a better job of offering better prices. This can be done in a variety of ways, including odds boosts, reduced juice and opinionated lines. This is why it is a good idea to sign up with multiple sportsbooks to make sure you are doing price shopping and getting the best price for your best bets.

A Wide Range of Betting Markets

One of the best ways for a sportsbook to keep a customer coming back is to offer a wide variety of betting markets. This means popular leagues, college markets and niche markets with international leagues. Beyond that, we want to make a wide variety of sports wagers, including player prop bets, significant parlay flexibility, teasers, pleasers, round robins, futures bets, live bets and more.

If you want to bet on an NFL game, you should be able to do that just as easily as betting on the outcome of a game of rugby overseas.

Banking Methods

A good sportsbook will offer customers a variety of banking methods, including credit cards, debit cards, bank transfers, checks, e-wallets and crypto options (Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin). This is true for deposit and withdrawal methods. There is also usually a fee and limit associated with these different limits.

Promotions & Bonuses

Sportsbook users expect generous bonuses. This may be in the form of a welcome bonus for new users where they can make an initial deposit and instantly be rewarded with a large amount of bonus money or bonus bets.

But the ongoing promos, some requiring promo codes, are also a huge deal for loyal sports bettors who want to use one site most of the time. You should be able to get risk-free bets, reload bonuses, parlay boosters, odds boosts and a refer-a-friend program. You also should be able to advance in a loyalty program the more you bet for better perks.

Live Betting

Live betting or in-game betting is becoming a big deal very quickly. Maybe you want to hedge on a pre-game bet or spice up a boring game with a new bet. Maybe you see a player struggling early and expect them to rebound in the second half, so you place a live bet on their props to take advantage. The flexibility live betting gives is potentially massive as sites continue to offer more markets than just moneyline, spread and total to their live bets. Any quality online sportsbook is going to focus on providing a great in-game betting experience now.

User Experience

Sports bettors are looking for a great online experience where you get generous bonuses, a quality site to navigate, the ability to add certain teams to our favorites list and a cashier section that makes deposits and withdrawals a pain-free moment. We also want to see good live betting markets.

Mobile Navigability

Apps are taking over mobile sports betting, but these offshore sites tend to only offer a mobile sportsbook instead of a native app. No matter if you are using an app or site, you need mobile betting that is quick and reliable, especially if you are doing in-game betting where speed is everything. The site should be able to handle high-traffic times like big gaming events. We want everything neatly labeled and easy-to-build parlays across multiple games and sports if necessary as well.

Customer Support

If there is a section of an online gambling site that could have disputes to settle, it would be on the sportsbook with the way some props are settled. But for any account questions or needs, you will need a quality customer support team. We determine the best way to do customer service is to offer 24/7 support with a wide variety of contact methods, including the ability to send a message through the site, email someone, do a phone call or use a live chat feature.

Security & Safety Features

To win real money at an offshore sportsbook, you will have to give them personal details like your name, email and connecting your bank account, debit card, credit card or eWallet info. With this much personal info shared, we have to believe the connection is secure and encrypted to keep our data safe. This is why our top 10 list only includes the online sportsbooks that have many years of experience in this industry. We trust them the most to keep our data secure.

There are no professional sports teams in New Hampshire, but the Boston-area options are very popular teams with those in the Granite State. In the following sections, we look at the betting markets you can expect to bet on if you use an offshore sportsbook in New Hampshire.

Football

The NFL is the No. 1 soap opera in America these days and it offers a ton of betting markets with player props on everything from touchdown scorers to receptions to rushing yards to passing touchdowns to individual tackles, sacks and interceptions on defense. You will also find plenty of futures bets on the Super Bowl winner, conference winners, division winners and individual award winners.

Basketball

Basketball is a major betting market with a ton of NBA prop picks for points, rebounds, assists, three-point shots, blocks and steals. You can also boost your same-game parlay odds by betting on who will score the first basket of the game. You can bet on players to record a triple-double as well. There are many sides and totals bets for each game and you can bet on how long the playoff series will last and who will win them.

Baseball

With MLB underway, you can expect daily betting markets for players to record a hit or home run, total bases by players, strikeouts by the starting pitchers and plenty of inning bets on the spread and total. You also can bet on futures for the World Series or division races.

Ice Hockey

For NHL betting, you can expect a good mixture of prop picks for goal scorers, goalie saves, shots on goal and total points scored. You also can bet on a variety of scoring markets, including which period will have the most goals or if the game will be decided in regulation or overtime.

College Sports

New Hampshire has a couple of notable college teams that play their college games in Division I: New Hampshire Wildcats and Dartmouth Big Green. When it comes to collegiate betting, you are not allowed to bet on any collegiate teams from New Hampshire or on games that are played in the state.

But that is only true for regulated options like DraftKings. You can do all the college betting you want at offshore sportsbooks.

Other Sports

Beyond the most popular professional sports, you will find a good variety of international sports and niche sports at offshore sportsbooks. The following list is a good sample of the options you will come across:

  • Aussie Rules
  • Badminton
  • Chess
  • Cricket
  • Curling
  • Darts
  • Fighting (UFC)
  • Handball
  • Motorsports/Racing
  • Rugby
  • Soccer
  • Snooker
  • Table Tennis
  • Volleyball

By offering more niche sports betting markets, online sportsbooks are able to provide sports betting fans with a more rounded overall online sports betting experience.

Creating an Online Sportsbook Account

Online wagering sites all have a simple sign-up process that you must complete if you are going to start winning real money today. We walk you through those steps in the following sections.

Step 1. Signing-Up

Go to the site you wish to join and start creating your new account. You will need to come up with a quality password that you are not going to share with another person or use on another site.

Step 2. Verifying Your Account

The next step is to verify your account so the site knows it really is you. This is done by providing accurate information such as your name, address, email address and a working mobile number to receive texts. The site is likely going to text you a code or email you a link to confirm your account creation.

Step 3. Depositing Your Funds

The third step is funding your account with real money. Before you do this, read over the full terms and conditions of the welcome bonus for new users. This is a one-time offer based on the size of your initial deposit, so be sure to know exactly how much you want to deposit to take advantage of that bonus. Once you figure it out, head to the cashier section and make your deposit using the deposit method that works best for you.

Step 4. Placing Your Sports Bets

Now your account is verified and funded. You are ready to start doing online sports wagering. Remember to enjoy yourself.

New Hampshire Betting Guides

If you live in New Hampshire and are new to online gambling, you have come to the correct place. Our team has created a number of useful guides that will increase your understanding of the numerous accessible online betting options in the state.

FAQs – New Hampshire Online Sports Betting

Can you bet on sports in New Hampshire?

Yes, you can bet on sports in New Hampshire at retail sportsbook locations and using the sole operator licensed in the state, DraftKings Sportsbook. Offshore sites allow residents to place more types of bets, including on college sports; they do not need to be licensed in New Hampshire.

What gambling is legal in NH?

New Hampshire has many forms of legal gambling, including sports betting, horse racing, Daily Fantasy Sports, lottery games and in-person charitable gaming. Offshore sites are not based in the U.S., which allows them to offer better bonuses and more bet types. New Hampshire players can also use these online platforms.

How do I bet online in NH?

The only locally-regulated New Hampshire betting platform is DraftKings Sportsbook. You can also play iLottery games on the New Hampshire Lottery site. Or, even better, you can join offshore gambling sites and place sports bets, bet on horse racing and play online casino games.

What gambling apps are legal in NH?

You can do mobile wagering with the DraftKings Sportsbook. It is the only sportsbook app licensed by the NH Lottery Commission as of 2023. However, the mobile sites from offshore sportsbooks are more reliable than apps and offer more benefits to players.

Does NH have a gambling tax?

New Hampshire does not have a state gambling tax, but big wins will still have to pay federal taxes at a standard tax rate of 24%. If your win is over $5,000, those sports betting winnings will automatically be subjected to the federal tax rate of 24%.
