Alaska Sports Betting – The Highest-Rated Online Sports Betting Sites in 2023
Alaska sports bettors have been left in the cold when it comes to legal online betting in the state. But sports fans also do not have any options for in-person betting on sports in Alaska, unless you count dog sledding.
If you crave online action in Alaska, you must join an offshore betting site. This will allow you to place bets on sports and horse racing, play casino games and maybe even some poker tournaments.
In this guide, we will show Alaskan bettors the best offshore sportsbooks to join and what makes them the best, and we look at the markets and sports they can expect to bet on.

Is sports betting legal in Alaska?
No, Alaska has not passed any legislation for legal sports betting as of 2023. This applies to both in-person sports betting at gambling facilities and online wagering with a legal sportsbook. The closest legal option to sports betting in the state is Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS), which is offered to Alaskan sports bettors by FanDuel and DraftKings as more of a game of skill rather than a game of chance.
This is why Alaskan bettors are turning to offshore sportsbooks to place their bets on professional sports, college sports and other international leagues. It is not illegal to use these sites, so you do not have to worry about getting in trouble for using them to bet and win real money today.
Comparison of the Best Alaska Sports Betting Sites
These top 10 online betting sites will have your favorite sports, a good variety of player prop bets and a wide range of different sports and leagues from around the world. We have included a more detailed review of our top 10 offshore sites. If you are looking to bet money on sports, these sites will deliver a good number of promos to enjoy too.
1. Bookmaker: Winning Players Are Not Limited

Costa Rica’s Bookmaker.eu has carved out an outstanding reputation among sports bettors since 1996. It is known for posting the earliest sports betting lines, not limiting winning players and offering a great reward program with generous reload bonuses.
In recent years, the site has added a great live betting platform with loads of prop bet options. They have some unique prop picks like betting on a player to not score a touchdown in the NFL (in island games). They have many other picks for international leagues as well.
Bookmaker lacks a downloadable app, but the mobile site is one of the best designs on our list. You will also be treated to a very good racebook with all fixed odds racing, and daily horse racing rebates are available there. They also have a casino with a good mixture of games, including table games and Keno.
Pros
- Get the earliest sports betting lines
- Winning players are not limited
- Great mobile betting site
- Unique promos
- Excellent loyalty program
Cons
- Not as many casino games as rivals
- Not all accounts eligible for Diamond Level
2. Heritage Sports: Great for Live Betting and Cashback

Since 2001, Heritage Sports has been one of the top choices for online sportsbooks. Once an invite-only site, anyone in Alaska can join the site today to enjoy all its benefits in the sportsbook, racebook, casino and esports.
You will get reduced juice (-108) and cashback at Heritage Sports, including a quarterly rebate for your total volume of sports bets. The bonus money won at the site has a relatively low rollover requirement, and it can be used anywhere without restriction. You also get unique promos like a free birthday parlay (worth up to $500) and every eighth deposit is free if you go seven deposits without a payout.
The sportsbook does not post the earliest lines like Bookmaker, but you can get early lines for MLB and NFL. You also get plenty of good props and a live betting interface that is one of the best on its mobile site.
Pros
- Cashback every quarter on sports bets
- Great mobile design for live betting
- Reduced juice (-108) available
- Free birthday parlay (worth up to $500)
- Many pro, college and international markets
Cons
- Lacks a poker room
- Not the biggest sports betting welcome bonus
3. Bovada: The Best Prop Builder

We think Bovada may have the best prop builder of all the sites on our list. You can choose from a great variety of props from one game, multiple games or different sports to build a parlay. The site is also open to suggestions for more props and specials that can be added to the list.
It is easy to place bets on the site because it is one of the best mobile sites around. The layout is very good with everything neatly labeled and excellent use of drop-down menus. The racebook also has a great design and is the best site for virtual racing markets.
The crypto bonuses are huge for new users. The ongoing promos for returning customers are severely lacking, but the site does make up for that a bit by having such big welcome bonuses and a great reward program. You accumulate more points with the more you bet and those points never expire, nor do you lose your tier level even if your account remains inactive. But those points can be redeemed for bonus bets or poker tournaments.
Pros
- Arguably the best prop builder
- Great bonuses for crypto users
- Very good reward program
- Mobile site works just like an app
- Quality racebook
Cons
- Lacks the ongoing promos
- Lines not posted as early as other betting sites
4. BetOnline: Opinionated Lines and Fast Payouts

BetOnline is one of the best all-around choices for online gambling sites. The sportsbook specifically has opinionated lines, so you may see -107 vs. -113 odds instead of -110 vs. -110 odds. NHL fans will be happy to hear that all NHL games have reduced juice, though we feel the site should expand this to the more popular professional leagues (NFL, NBA and MLB).
There is that unbeatable combination of high limits, fast payouts and diverse payment methods that you find at BetOnline. You will also find a very good poker room that only Bovada can rival on our list. You can play in tournaments and cash games there after downloading the software.
The prop builder is not as good as Bovada’s, but it is functional and has many good alternate lines that you will not find at some of the biggest sportsbooks in the world like FanDuel right now. That comes in handy for building parlays on popular markets like NFL and NBA.
BetOnline is also home to many unique and fun sports promos and contests and some contests are free to enter too.
Pros
- Opinionated lines in sportsbook
- Free and paid sports contests
- Bad-beat insurance bets
- Generous welcome bonuses
- Risk-free bets for props and live betting
- Some of the fastest payouts in the industry
Cons
- Bovada has a much better prop builder
- Reduced juice is only for NHL markets
5. BetAnySports: Best for Reduced Juice

BetAnySports is another great book from Costa Rica. The problem with this one is that it can be a pain to find where the best lines are, as the sportsbook is broken down into five different betting lines, plus a separate section for props.
If you figure out the differences in the sportsbook, you will come to find where the best reduced juice is, as you can get -105 lines at BetAnySports. The prop builder is also one of the best around, and the site lives up to its name by offering just about all the sports you can imagine.
The bonuses are not as huge as some rivals but you can get a high-quality online betting experience here. You just have to overcome the learning curve due to some layout issues with the sportsbook. But at least live betting is not hard to do on BetAnySports.
Pros
- Best reduced juice (-105)
- Very good prop builder
- Many niche sports offered
- Quality live betting site
- Great casino variety
Cons
- Sportsbook layout has a learning curve
6. BetUS: Original Content and Analysis

BetUS has nearly 30 years of experience with taking user bets. They do one of the best jobs of giving gamblers information to get better, either through informative guides on the site or expert analysis with BetUS TV, a YouTube channel. More sportsbooks should follow their lead by adding original content with expert analysis.
The site also does a great job of giving new user bonuses that are a mixture of casino and sportsbook funds. The casino section is great, with demos available too. The sportsbook may not be our favorite in the business, with a mediocre prop builder, but you will find live betting markets and a decent range of sports offered. BetUS loses some points for having some of the highest rollover requirements for bonus money.
Pros
- Expert analysis and picks
- Informative gambling guides
- Unique bonuses for new users
- Casino games have demos
- Many sports and leagues available
Cons
- High rollover requirements
- Not the best prop builder design
7. WagerWeb: Great for Crypto Users

WagerWeb takes after Heritage Sports, which is a very good idea. It even expands on it in some ways by offering true parlay odds in the sportsbook, which is also good for live betting and finding international leagues.
At WagerWeb, new users who use MoneyGram or Bitcoin will be happy, as those are the ways to get the best welcome bonuses. However, not everyone uses those two options, so you will likely settle for lesser bonuses. We also think Heritage Sports does bonuses better, like offering every eighth deposit for free, while WagerWeb does every 10th.
Finally, we dock WagerWeb some points for not having 24/7 customer support as they start their days at 10 AM EST. But if you are a Bitcoin or MoneyGram user, and if you like horse racing and esports, then you should enjoy what WagerWeb has to offer.
Pros
- True parlay odds
- Great bonuses for crypto users
- Weekly NFL contest during football season
- Solid live betting interface
Cons
- Matched deposit bonus caters to crypto users
- Customer support is not available 24/7
8. JustBet: Early Released Lines

For the last decade, JustBet has co-existed as a sister site to Bookmaker.eu. That means a lot of similarities right down to the early betting lines in the sportsbook, plenty of sports markets offered and the same three-level reward program that offers great reload bonuses to users who reach the final level.
However, JustBet does not advance or improve the Bookmaker model. It still lacks a poker room or demo versions of its smaller number of casino games. The prop builder is also not the best, and the site design is not as good as Bookmaker.
Pros
- Earliest sports betting lines
- Reliable live betting platform
- Very good reward program
- Sister site to our favorite sportsbook
Cons
- Does not improve on the Bookmaker experience
- Sports betting platform could be more polished
9. Everygame: Offers top-Of-The-Line User Experience

For 25 years, Intertops existed in Antigua. But it was recently rebranded as Everygame, and the site has lived up to the new name by offering just about every game in the sports world. The site also has live betting, making it an ideal spot for sports bettors to check out since the site has such a great design.
However, that design pops even better with the casino and poker software. Sports betting is more casual, and Everygame does not have a racebook section like just about every other site on our list. But if you are not a die-hard sports bettor, then this is worth a look at as an all-around online gambling site.
Pros
- Excellent site design and user interface
- Offers poker tournaments
- Casino games have great graphics
- Solid deposit bonuses for new users
- Lives up to name by offering most sports
Cons
- No racebook section
- More for casual bettors
10. SportsBetting.ag: Good Bonuses and Promotions

SportsBetting has plenty of sports betting as you could imagine, but it is uncanny just how much it borrows from BetOnline, its sister site. Everything from the bad-beat promos to opinionated lines to the same poker network will be familiar to those who use BetOnline.
The best reason to have an account with both sites is to take advantage of the welcome bonus at SportsBetting. New users of the sportsbook can get a 50% bonus of up to $1,000.
Pros
- Same poker network as BetOnline
- Opinionated lines in sportsbook
- Fun promos (bad beats)
- Large limits and fast payouts
Cons
- Credit card deposit fees
- Not an improvement on BetOnline’s model

History of Alaska’s Gambling Laws
Alaska does not allow slot machines and a state lottery, so its stance on not having legal sports betting comes as little surprise. Sports betting laws took a beating back in 1992, when Congress passed the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act, otherwise known as PASPA. This effectively banned sports betting in most of the country.
It would not be until 2018 that the Supreme Court would finally overturn PASPA for being unconstitutional. Now, all 50 states could choose to vote on the legalization of sports betting in their state. Quickly, several states passed sports betting laws and began offering in-person betting and online wagering. Retail sports betting was taking off at casinos in several states, but this was not the case in Alaska despite the presence of several tribal casinos.
On several occasions over the years, Alaskans have voted against more gambling in the state. They did it in 1990 at a 2-to-1 margin and it happened again in a 2008 referendum with 61.4% voting no to more gambling.
In February 2020, Alaska Gov. Mike Dunleavy introduced a bill to authorize a state lottery and eventually legalize sports betting. But COVID hit soon after and the bill never went anywhere.
Two years later, in 2022, Rep. Adam Wool introduced a bill to legalize online sports betting in Alaska. The bill reached the Labor and Commerce Committee before stalling when the legislative session ended that year.
Today, your best bet in Alaska for sports betting is to use offshore betting sites that are reputable and trustworthy in the industry.
Timeline of Gambling in Alaska State
The following timeline shows the key moments relating to sports gambling in Alaska:
- 2022: Rep. Adam Wool presents HB 385 in an effort to legalize online sports betting. The bill makes it to the Labor and Commerce Committee before it stalls.
- 2020: Gov. Mike Dunleavy introduces some of the state’s most significant legal gambling and sports betting legislation to date, but after COVID hit, these sports betting bills faded into obscurity.
- 2018: The Supreme Court strikes down PASPA, leading to each state deciding if it wants to allow sports betting or not. Several states quickly pass laws to allow for retail betting to operate in their state.
- 2008: Over 61% of Alaskan voters say no to legal gambling in the state.
- 1992: Congress passes PASPA to effectively ban sports betting in most of the country.
- 1990: By a 2-to-1 margin, Alaskan voters decline to expand on legal gambling in the state.
Features of the Best Online Sportsbooks
In the following sections, we look at the wide range of performance metrics that go into our grading of the best offshore gambling sites. There are site layout and design metrics, specific sportsbooks metrics like competitive odds and betting markets, and the general features we always expect to see like quality customer service, bonuses and security.
Competitive Betting Odds
When doing online betting on sports, players are best served by creating an account at multiple sportsbooks to help them shop for the best price on the pick they want to make. Some sites do competitive betting odds better than others by offering reduced juice, opinionated lines or odds boosts on select markets. Make sure you are getting the best price and line you can.
Wide Variety of Betting Markets Available
The more online betting options offered at a site, the more likely that user is to stay loyal and not go elsewhere for their betting. This is true for all forms of gambling, but it may be most apparent at an online sportsbook. You want to see the most sports, leagues and betting markets possible, including professional teams, college teams and international leagues. As for the betting types, we expect singles, parlays, same-game parlays, teasers, pleasers, round robin, futures, props (team/game/player) and in-game betting markets.
Deposit & Withdrawal Methods
The ability to have a quick deposit process and just as quick of a withdrawal process is very important. You also need to have diverse options for payment methods, including credit cards (American Express included), debit cards, e-wallets and crypto options. We also acknowledge the variation in process times, limits and fees for each method.
Generous Promos & Bonuses
Who does not love getting bonus money? The big welcome bonus can often draw a new user into an online sportsbook. You make an initial deposit after entering a promo code or bonus code and just like that, your account is rewarded with bonus bets.
But the best online sports betting bonus may come down the road for existing users who continue using the site. You can expect to see a risk-free bet from time to time on select markets, odds boosts on select markets, reload bonuses, refer-a-friend programs and a good reward program where the more you bet, the more you earn in rewards.
Live Betting & Event Streaming
Doing in-game sports bets is a growing market as users find it very fun to bet on the game they are watching while using their mobile device to follow the action. Maybe you want to hedge on a pregame bet or just found a hidden value in the game that you are watching. The more live betting markets available, the better, as we are starting to see props included for live betting on the most popular leagues like NFL and NBA.
As for event streaming, we are seeing some of that too with European soccer matches and some tennis available. But most of the offshore sites are going to struggle for some time to get licensing rights for live streaming of major professional sports leagues. This just makes it extra important for them to have a good data visualization feature for their live betting markets so users can get the best idea of the live game flow if they are not able to watch the game.
User Interface
To enhance your betting experience, you want to see a sportsbook that has a good layout with each sport broken down into the different leagues offered. In those leagues, you will find the games, and it should be easy to click on each game for more bets, including alternate lines and props. Some sites do a better job than others at this layout, as finding the props can get confusing when you want to do your online wagering. A quality layout is crucial for these sites as users like to build parlays and jump around from different games and sports.
Mobile Interface
When it comes to mobile sports betting, we need a site that is going to run smoothly and handle the high-traffic times that a big sporting event can bring. This is crucial for mobile betting during live games, as the odds will change sharply with each play and you need to be able to get your bet through quickly. These offshore sites lack a mobile app, but they do have a mobile site that acts like an app. Mobile sports wagering is done best on a site that can quickly process bets.
Customer Service
The sportsbook is arguably the No. 1 section on an online gambling site where you may have to settle a dispute. It is hard to squabble over an electronic table game, but a stat correction for a player prop or the playing status of an injured player are legitimate arguments one could make. This is when you need a great customer service team to handle your request.
We believe the best sites to be the ones that offer 24/7 support with the following contact methods: message on the site with attachments possible, a phone number, an email address and live chat with an agent.
Site’s Security & Safety Features
Winning real money with an offshore sportsbook means you will be sharing personal details of your identity and financial accounts. That means it is more important than ever for these sites to have excellent security to keep our data encrypted and safe. We combat this by only trusting the sites that have a long history in the business. We feel most confident with these sites being able to handle sensitive user data in a reliable fashion.
Fan-Favorite Sports to Bet on in Alaska
We know Alaska is not home to any major professional sports teams, but that does not mean residents do not want to bet on their favorite teams and favorite players at offshore sites. In the following sections, we look at the types of bets and markets you can expect to find when you do online sports betting with the offshore sportsbooks we just recommended earlier.
NFL
The NFL is the most popular sport in America now, and you can bet on many different markets at top-rated sportsbooks. You can bet on which players will score a touchdown, over/under in passing yards, which player will record a sack, the highest-scoring quarter, the first-half spread, the exact margin of victory, the correct final score and plenty more. You can even combine multiple sports bets into same-game parlays. You can also bet on futures markets for division winners, conference winners, the Super Bowl champion and individual player awards like the MVP.
NBA
The NBA is another great but challenging sport to bet on from Alaska with the help of offshore sportsbooks. You can bet on many different player props, including points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, three-pointers made and who will score the first basket or record a triple-double.
You can also bet on alternate spreads and totals, and there are future markets for the NBA champion and MVP winner. Live betting can also be very exciting with NBA markets since the scores can change quickly, moving the moneyline odds with greater frequency than you might see in the NFL, MLB or NHL.
MLB
With baseball season consuming so many months on a near-daily basis, you get a ton of betting options with which player will hit a home run, how many total bases they’ll get, who will record a hit (or multiple hits), player strikeouts and plenty of inning score and spread markets.
NHL
With NHL betting, you can get reduced juice at a site like BetOnline. With most sites, you can bet on player props like goal scorers, over/under in total points and shots on goal. You can also bet on scoring by period markets, including which period will be the highest scoring and if the game will be decided in regulation or go to overtime.
College Sports
When using offshore sportsbooks, you can expect a wide array of college teams to bet on in the most popular collegiate games, including college football betting, college basketball markets and even some college baseball and college hockey.
Since Alaska does not have any major NCAA Division I collegiate teams, Alaskan bettors can feel free to bet on the collegiate game outcomes of their other favorite teams and major programs.
Niche Sports
Beyond those popular markets of NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL, you can expect to find plenty of niche sports that are more well-known in international markets. We have included a sample list of the types of niche sports you can expect to find at a quality offshore sportsbook:
- Aussie Rules
- Badminton
- Chess
- Cricket
- Curling
- Darts
- Fighting (UFC)
- Handball
- Motorsports/Racing
- Rugby
- Soccer
- Snooker
- Table Tennis
- Volleyball
Popular Alaska Sports Teams
Alaska is not home to any Division I schools that compete in the NCAA, but they do have two notable college teams with athletic programs in NCAA Division II:
- Alaska Nanooks (University of Alaska Fairbanks)
- Alaska Anchorage Seawolves (University of Alaska Anchorage)
Both teams play basketball (men and women) and hockey (men) in the Great Northwest Conference. There are no college football teams in the state.
Creating an Online Sportsbook Account
Joining an online betting site is rather simple in Alaska. No matter which site you choose, you should be able to follow our general steps below to quickly sign up and start betting on sports for real money today.
Step 1. Signing-Up
The first step is to figure out which site you want to join and head there to begin the registration process. You should select a password that is tough and not something you plan to share with anyone or use on another site.
Step 2. Verifying Your Details
In another quick process, your account must be verified. To do this, you should provide accurate information such as your name, address, email address and mobile phone number. The site will likely send you a confirmation link or text code to verify your account in the system.
Step 3. Depositing Your Funds
The account must be funded with real money before you can start betting. But before you start the deposit process, you should absolutely read the full terms and conditions for the welcome bonus you want to take advantage of. This is usually a one-time offer that gives you bonus funds for your initial deposit. Once you know how much you want to deposit, head to the cashier and choose from the deposit method that suits you best to make that deposit.
Step 4. Placing Your Wagers
You now have a verified account with real money in it. You are ready to start betting on sports, so knock yourself out and find a game to bet on. Remember to bet responsibly and have fun.
