The Wolfpack on a 3 game slide & looking for a reset as they fortunately slid into the tourney. I like situations like this, nothing on paper recently will tell you to pick Nevada. We even got two transfers that came from Nevada that now play an important role at ASU. Everything SCREAMS take the Sun Devils in this matchup for a subplot.

Not me though I’m taking a highly motivated Nevada team that feels very grateful to be in this spot as a squad. Let’s face it these teams are not too far apart on any given day. Give me plus money with this coin toss on a neutral court. Also the so-called TV experts like ASU a lot !

The 3 game slide by Nevada is concerning. But, the 3 losses could all have been wins. They just fell flat in the last 4-5 min of each game. As a matter of fact, over their last 6 games, they are only averaging ~5.1 pts in the last 4 minutes of these games. That's incredibly low considering that is typically "free-throw time" for teams with easy points and Nevada is almost 80% from the line.

Yes you make a great point as they are one of the best free throw shooting teams in the tourney. The big lead late in the game would be great, but if they need to come through at the line, they have the players to shoot it down the stretch.

Its got to be a coaching issue late in games, right? I like Steve Alford and think he did a great job at New Mex and UCLA but this is really a let down in coaching.

If a team scores 1.1 pts/possession on average throught the season yet in the last 5 minutes of a game it drops to < 0.7 pts/possession, they just aren't executing their offense effectively. Alford has to recognize that and adjust.

I think they‘ve had time to reflect on that recent insufficiency & I’m sure coach has instilled this during practices for a needed reset. I’m definitely speculating, but I am hoping that’s true.

I took the points with Nevada because I feel like they will get this game played at the pace they want it and that will help keep the game close. This is a similar spot to the Pitt game yesterday where I also played Pitt ATS and they won outright for me. I don't know if Nevada wins this game but I'll gladly accept the 2.5 points I'm getting here as I think this is probably a close game.
