At BMR, we delve into the excitement of this week’s U.S. Open at Pinehurst No. 2 in North Carolina, uncovering the top prop bets to enhance your experience.

2024 U.S. Open Championship

June 10 – 16, 2024 at Pinehurst Resort

Course Notes

  • Designer: Donald Ross
  • Redesigns: Robert Trent Jones (1974), Bill Coore & Ben Crenshaw (2010).
  • Par 70, 7588 yards
  • Greens: Ultra dwarf Bermuda grass
  • Fairways and Rough: Bermuda

Key Stats

Total driving will likely play a key role in finding the winner because missing fairways is not an option in U.S. Opens. Equally, the length will be important so that the approach shots are more controllable into what will be slick dry greens.

Pinehurst No.2 is a relatively recent addition to the U.S. Open rota but has held three renewals in the last twenty-five years, while being penciled in for future renewals at five or six yearly intervals. So, by 2047, it will be easily recognized as a regular U.S. Open stop.

Will Brooks Koepka Win a Third U.S. Open?

We believe that Brooks Koepka holds a strong chance in this week’s U.S. Open, for what would be a third title in eight years.

Regardless of what the golf legacy media like to pedal, Brooks Koepka is the biggest achiever of his generation with five major championships. Not being in contention for the opening two majors of 2024 will have focused the thirty-four-year-old Floridian’s mind more than ever for the rest of the year.

This week’s track looks tailor-made for Koepka’s talents. Noticeably, he was 4th here back in 2014, which at the time was only his third major championship. Little did the golfing world know that four years later Koepka would have bagged two national titles in 2017 and 2018. The next three years saw two further top 5 finishes for Koepka before his injury woes began.

Koepka vs. the Field

The injured knee is now in the past, and last year’s win at the PGA Championship proved that. Interestingly, it happened at another Donald Ross design, a long par 70. The case for Brooks Koepka winning his third U.S. Open is solid from all angles so, what about the price?

Rightly, Scottie Scheffler is the favorite this week but we are not sure you can make a solid argument for anyone else being in front of Koepka in the betting. Because it is a major championship, there is no way Rory McIlroy, Xander Schauffele or Viktor Hovland should usurp him in the market.

Let’s not forget the other two LIV players above him in the betting, Rahm and DeChambeau, who have only won once between them, while Koepka has won four times on the new circuit.

We strongly suggest taking the value on Brooks Koepka at the price of (+2000) with a top-rated sportsbook such as Bovada (visit our Bovada Review).

Can Min Woo Let It Cook?

Min Woo Lee is not only a young stud on the golf course, but off it, his social media posts carrying the tagline “let him cook” have become legendary. The term originates from the gaming world of “Call of Duty” and at BMR, we wonder if Min Woo will be cooking up something special at Pinehurst No. 2.

Interestingly, he took last week off. Whether it was related to his injured hand from a month or so ago, time will tell. But missing last week’s tough test at Memorial could be a blessing in disguise for the twenty-five-year-old Aussie.

He arrives in North Carolina in solid form and his skill set looks perfectly suited to U.S. Open golf with his stats of;10th Strokes gained off the tee, 2nd Total Driving and 10th in approach from 175-200 yards which looks a strong combination.

Little wonder that he has played well in his two previous U.S. Opens, when 27th in 2022 and 5th last year. To beat the top of the market and Scottie Scheffler in particular, it is going to take a special talent, and Min Woo Lee is undoubtedly that!

We suggest taking Min Woo Lee at (+6600) to win the U.S. Open.
