The WTA Elite Trophy gets underway this Tuesday in Zhuhai. Don’t miss the best bet for Day 1. Bookmakers Review breaks down the fixtures below and lists the best available odds from green-listed bookmakers.

Bacsinszky vs. Zhang

Timea Bacsinszky and Shuai Zhang will face each other this Tuesday in the opening match of the Camellia Group.

After an extraordinary year, receiving a wild card for this event was a fair reward to Shuai Zhang’s season. Known for her powerful tennis, Zhang is never an easy opponent with two victories this year over top 10 opponents – both against Simona Halep. Shuai reaches this event after a terrific Asian swing with a terrific 10 – 4 record.

With only three victories over the last nine matches, Timea Bacsinszky is looking for a better performance in Zhuhai. Despite her poor results in recent months, Timea is always a dangerous opponent, especially on the big stages. This is Bacsinszky’s first career appearance in Zhuhai after withdrawing from this event last year due to a knee injury.

This will be the second career meeting between these two players with Zhang emerging victorious two months ago in the Rio Olympics by 6 – 7 6 – 4 7 – 6.

Despite Zhang’s recent victory, the bookmakers offer a very interesting price on Timea. Looking to their previous match, Bacsinszky was only at 11/50 while this time, the Swiss is available at 31/50 at William Hill. On the other hand, Pinnacle offers 36/25 for Shuai’s triumph. Due to Timea’s success on big competitions, the Swiss is definitely the right play for this contest.
