Tottenham vs. Liverpool – Premier League Round 9

This match is the clash of the round in the English Premier League. 3rd place Tottenham host 8th place Liverpool at Wembley Stadium in the last game of the weekend. Tottenham have won their last three Premier League fixtures keeping a clean sheet in the last two of them, and they enter this match on the back of a draw Champions League game away at the reigning champs Real Madrid. Tottenham’s star Harry Kane is on fire scoring 9 goals in his last 7 matches in all competitions and he is priced at 1.83 with the green listed bookmaker Bet365 to be anytime goalscorer. Liverpool destroyed Maribor on the road in Champions League beating them 7-0 but unfortunately for them, they’ve won just twice in their last nine matches in all competitions. Liverpool have the 2nd worst defense in top 14 conceding 12 goals in 8 rounds so they clearly have a huge problem in their defense. The Reds have a massive attacking firepower and we expect them to bounce back and return to winning ways after a very poor start to their season.

Liverpool are dealing with a major blow as their star striker Sadio Mane will miss up to six weeks with a hamstring injury picked up on the international break when his national team Senegal played Cape Verde. In my opinion, Liverpool were dominant creating some great chances but were very unlucky not to win their last EPL fixture against Manchester United last weekend being held to a goalless draw by The Red Devils as their goalkeeper David De Gea was their hero.

The Spurs finally broke their Wembley curse by winning last round against Bournemouth 1-0 extending their unbeaten run to nine matches in all competitions and they will surely put their best effort to continue their EPL 3-match winning streak. Liverpool’s poor defense should cope with Spurs’s great attacking skills and we expect them to concede at least 1-2 goals in the match. It should be a thrilling match between two attacking-minded teams so the best approach for this match is the “goals market” approach. Liverpool’s main problems are undoubtedly in their defense and most of all when playing on the road. This match can go either way so the clever thing to do is to skip the winners market. Both teams have their chance to win the three points and their place in the standings doesn’t matter for this clash. We’re not expecting Tottenham to keep Liverpool at bay but we fancy both teams to contribute on the scoreboard and at least 3 goals in the game.

Best picks:
