Hedgehunter\’s victory was a great result for punters.
“The winner is a sparkling result for punters,” said David Hood, Director Of Public Relations at William Hill.
“It wasn\’t the worst possible result for bookies – Clan Royal or Forest Gunner would have cost us even more – but it was pretty close to it,” added Coral spokesman Simon Clare.
British bookmakers turned over £250 million on the race.
“All in all, it was the biggest individual betting day in history, bar none,” said Hood.
