The British Horseracing Board said it was pleased to have a reached an out-of-court settlement with the consortium of Irish bookmakers who were suing the Board for the repayment of at least £20m which had been paid for the use of pre-race data since April 2002

Instead, the action was settled on the basis of the termination of the license agreements and a one-off payment of €300,000 from the Irish bookmakers.

However, the settlement leaves the British racing’s governing body with no guarantee of future income from Irish bookies, which hope to reach an agreement with an alternative information service.
