The Argentine Football Association called the National Lottery to iniciate a legal action against MiApuesta.com, which is using Apertura\’s Tournament fixture without permission and in direct competition with PRODE, a local soccer betting game.

Under Argentine laws, only the National Lottery is authorized to accept bets on Argentine soccer.

The Games of Chance Trade Union presented a report which suggested the type of internet bets operated by MiApuesta.com could lead to fraud, tax evasion, infrigement of the currency system and hide illegal business such as money laundering.

According to MiApuesta.com, which is owned by Internet Opportunity Entertaiment, a subsidiary of Sportingbet , the bets on Argentine soccer are not performed in Argentina but in London under a UK license and the company will continue to offer them to its customers.
