Kuznetsova vs. Pavlyuchenkova
One of the highlights of the day goes to the match between two Russian players – Svetlana Kuznetsova and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.
After a slow start on the first round against YaroslavaShvedova, Kuznetsova was absolutely brilliant on her second round match against Heather Watson, crushing the British by 6 – 1 6 – 3. Svetlana is a terrific clay court player and she can never be underestimated on this competition, where she won the title in 2009.
Pavlyuchenkova is looking to reach the 4th round of Roland Garros for the first time since 2011, when she made a surprising run into the quarter-finals. Even though clay is not Anastasia’s favourite surface, she benefited from an easy draw to reach this third round, defeating two players who emerged from the qualifying stage.
This should be a very interesting match with Pavlyuchenkova’s aggressive game contrasting with Kuznetsova’s tremendous defensive skills. As it happened in 80.0% of their previous encounters, Kuznetsova should emerge victorious and for that reason, she deserves to be priced as favourite among Green Listed Bookmakers for this contest at 9/25 on William Hill while Pavlyuchenkova is offered at 64/25 on Marathonbet.
Pironkova vs. Stephens
Looking to the matches scheduled for this Friday on the women’s competition, the contest between TsvetanaPironkova and Sloane Stephens clearly deserves a closer look.
Even though Pironkova is far from an expert on clay, she achieved two straight sets victories against good players on clay – Sara Errani and Johanna Larsson. Tsvetana is for the second time on her career in the 3rd round of this event, with the Bulgarian losing on that stage in 2015 against Stephens.
Sloane also reaches this stage of the competition without dropping a single set. The American is known for performing at her best on the big stages, with a phenomenal 17 – 5 career record on this event.
As it was mentioned before, these two players faced each other last year on this event, with Stephens emerging victorious by 6 – 4 6 – 1. The American won all their previous three meetings and for that reason, she’s fairly priced as favourite at 8/25 on Pinnacle Sports while Pironkova can be found at 117/50 on Bet365. Sloane should get the job done without much problems and looking at the several markets available on this game, her Game Handicap -4 at 22/25 on Pinnacle Sports seem to be a good way to approach this match.
