Nadal vs. Rublev

At the age of 19, Andrey Rublev became the youngest player to reach the US Open quarter-finals since Andy Roddick in 2001. Regardless of this Wednesday’s outcome, the Russian teenager already secured a place in the top 40 for the first time in his career. Taking a look now at Andrey’s campaign on this event, the former junior world no.1 reaches this stage of the competition after a straight sets win over David Goffin. Known as one of the most aggressive players on the ATP World Tour, Rublev ended the match against Goffin with 48 winners and 40 unforced errors.

Rafael Nadal continues his quest for a third career title in Flushing Meadows. Despite his lack of success in the US Open Series, the world no.1 is the main favourite to lift the trophy in New York. In addition to Roger Federer’s shaky performances, the 31-year-old is playing some of his best tennis ever on Hard Court. Considering now Nadal’s numbers throughout this tournament, the highlight definitely goes to his serve with the Spaniard winning 92.10% of his service games.

The bookmakers expect a straightforward win from Nadal with the no.1 seed available at 1/10 at Pinnacle while 5Dimes offers 47/5 for Andrey’s victory. Even though we agree with Rafael’s favouritism, it’s impossible to find any value on his current betting odds. On the other hand, Pinnacle offers a very interesting price on Rublev’s +2.5 Set Handicap at 36/25 in a match where Nadal should experience some problems against the Russian’s firepower.

Best Play: Andrey Rublev +2.5 Set Handicap at 36/25 at Pinnacle

Pliskova vs. Vandeweghe

The world no.1 – Karolina Pliskova – continues to pursue her first Grand Slam title. After a disappointing defeat against Angelique Kerber in the 2016 US Open Final, the 25-year-old Czech is trying to go a step further on this year’s edition. Known as one of the best servers in tennis history, Pliskova is firing an impressive average of 0.72 aces per service game in Flushing Meadows. Adding to this, the 2016 runner-up reaches this stage of the competition after a sensational 6 – 1 6 – 0 win over Jennifer Brady in the previous round.

Coco Vandeweghe is trying to become the third player to reach the US Open semi-finals after Sloane Stephens and Venus Williams. Playing on U.S. soil brings the best out of Vandeweghe with an outstanding 75.00% winning record over the last 12 months in her home country. Looking now at Coco’s campaign on this event, the 25-year-old reaches this stage of the competition after a 6 – 4 7 – 6 win against Lucie Safarova in the fourth round.

This will be the 5th career meeting between these two players with each of them winning two of their previous four encounters.

As the h2h suggests, there isn’t much separating these two players. Nevertheless, Pliskova is, by far, the more experienced of the two at this level. For that reason, it’s not surprising to see Karolina as the favourite to win this match at 61/100 at 5Dimes while Vandeweghe is available at 77/50 at Pinnacle.

Best Play: Karolina Pliskova ML at 61/100 at 5Dimes
