On the other hand, Zverev holds a terrific 11 – 4 this season on Indoor Hard Court. Looking now at Alexander’s campaign on this event, the world no.4 reaches this stage of the competition after a 7 – 6 6 – 4 win over Gilles Simon.
The 2011 champion – Jo-Wilfried Tsonga – is trying to become the 8th player in tennis history to win multiple titles at the Erste Bank Open 500. Known as one of the best servers in the game, Tsonga holds an outstanding 86.96% winning record over the last 12 months on Indoor Hard Court. Despite his brilliant numbers in recent months, the 32-year-old was on the brink of elimination in Vienna with Damir Dzumhur unable to convert a match point opportunity on the previous round.
This will be the 3rd career meeting between these two players with Tsonga winning their first encounter at the 2016 Shanghai Rolex Masters while Zverev got his revenge earlier this year in Montpellier.
