Playtech appointed advisers over potential initial public offering

The casino and poker software developer hired stockbroker Collins Stewart to advise on strategic options, which include a possible listing on the London Stock Exchange.

Playtech is controlled by an Israeli entrepreneur, whose stake is expected to  be worth as much as £300m if the company lists with a £500m valuation.

However, sources close to the company suggest that a trade sale is a more likely option, as the recent negative sentiment towards online gaming stocks has made it harder for gambling companies to float on the market.
