According to the Irish bookmaker, most of the wagers had come from UK-based online punters following the rapid expansion of the firm\’s business in the UK.
Analyst Gavin Kelleher of Goodbody Stockbrokers, which recently upgraded Paddy Power from \’add\’ to \’buy\’, said one of the key drivers of growth at the Irish bookmaker is the surge in broadband use.
Goodbody Stockbrokers also added that the company appears well funded to make acquisitions, given the cash levels on its balance sheet.
Elsewhere, Stan James announed the launch of ‘Poker Bounty’, a new online poker tournament which will run every week night from Monday to Friday. The tournaments will enable punters to play against the SJpoker team and be rewarded if they manage to eliminate one of them.
