Party Gaming, 888 Holdings, BetonSports, Sportingbet and NETeller led the risers on the London Stock Exchange after the Internet Gambling Prohibition Act failed to pass its initial reading and no second hearing was scheduled.
Members of the House of Representatives Judiciary Subcommittee were concerned that the prohibition bill introduced by the Virginia Congressman Bob Goodlatte would permit interstate betting on horse racing while prohibiting other types of online gaming.
Opponents to the legislation also argued that the bill would add a regulatory burden to the banking industry by necessitating a massive overhaul of check-clearing and automated clearing house networks.
