Manchester United have made an excellent start to their chase for the Premier League crown. Consecutive 4-0 wins have given them an excellent platform and left many wondering whether this is a sign of the season to come.
I’ll admit, I’m a lot more cautious.
So far, I see two impressive wins against less than impressive sides. I don’t see the creativity that is going to be needed to win the big matches and I can see this side drawing a fair number of games.
Are Leicester the side to pop the United bubble? I don’t think so. This should be a game between two physically imposing sides and although I can see Leicester scoring, I don’t think they can win this game.
That gives us our first betting opportunity. Both Teams To Score is currently at 2.05 with William Hill among other green listed bookmakers. This is not a vintage Manchester United defence and although Matic does add strength to the side, I can see Leicester getting one goal.
One bet leads on to another and suddenly I’m looking at over 2.5 goals. On this one though I don’t think there is enough value. The best odds have the Over at 1.69 and that doesn’t hold my interest.
For much the same reason I’m not risking anything in the Match Odds market. I can see Manchester United winning this one but at (average) odds of 1.31, that’s not a market I’d be willing to touch with your bargepole.
Much of this does hinge on what happens in the transfer market over the next couple of days. If Danny Drinkwater (once of Manchester United) leaves the Foxes to join Chelsea (as expected) then all bets are off. The same situation stands for any moves involving Riyad Mahrez, he’s not been on top form so far this season but he is an important player for them. The future of other players like Demarai Gry is less important for my betting but it will be interesting to see what happens.
I can’t see any significant moves for any of Manchester Uniteds squad. You don’t win a title by selling match winners and rumours about Anthony Martial are just newspaper filler in my opinion.
I’d really like to be able to eke out at least one more bet in this one and I will admit that I’ve got my eye on Paul Pogba for the anytime goalscorer market. Bet365 will offer you 2.88 on that and I think that could be a good option as Pogba is now playing in freer role than he experienced last season.
