As reported by The Scotsman, the betting company part of the Hilton Group is in talks with a string of international governments with the aim to set up joint ventures with local companies and open betting shops under the Ladbrokes brand name.
A lot of countries are keen to adopt the UK\’s standard of regulation and Ladbrokes are supposed to provide expertise in the layout and managing of high street betting shops.
“It\’s not like we will be spending hundreds of millions building shops, but we are looking to set them up properly, and to explain to joint venture partners how to run them. So, apart from running our business here in the UK, the Ladbrokes guys are currently flying around the world – trying to set up these joint ventures.” said the company\’s Chief Executive Brian Wallace.
The company has yet to name the governments involved in talks, but Singapore, which recently drafted a Casino Control Bill in preparation for the planned development of two casino resorts, is understood to be the primary target.
