Integrity issues for Betfair in Australia

Australian Racing Board Chairman Andrew Ramsden believes Tasmanian Premier Paul Lennon will not grant a license to Betfair in September if he listens to what the ARB has to say about integrity issues.

“Paul Lennon is a keen racing man but he has only had one side of the story. The integrity issues are far too big. When he hears what they are from us, we hope he sees things differently,” Ramsden said.

Mr Lennon is keen to establish revenue streams to make the Tasmanian racing industry self-sufficient.

“We have a proud record in Tasmania of protecting the gambling industry from corruption and criminal elements. There is no point people putting their heads in the sand and pretending prohibition can work. It won\’t work, it never has worked. Regulation works,” Lennon said in a radio interview.
