According to an anonymous source mentioned by the Associated Press, Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist is trying to get the measure that would prohibit the use of credit cards on internet gambling sites, attached to a Defense Department bill that seeks to authorize military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The measure\’s supporters include the National Football League as well as conservative and antigambling groups. While a number of banking groups are lobbying against it together with the National Right for Online Gambling, a new non-profit organization recently formed to educate online gamblers and non-gamblers alike about the Internet Gambling Prohibition and Enforcement Act, its carve-outs and its consequences for all American online gamblers.
