It’s the magic of the FA Cup this Saturday. But it’s not very magical for the punter who fails to spot the giant killings if there are any. There are a plethora of short prices to wade through across our green listed sports betting sites.
This is the round the Big Boys come in – Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City – and their Premier League counterparts. Most of them are on a hiding to nothing, a bit like us if we decide to go down the route of skinny-odds accas.
We won’t do that because plain and simple, it’s no fun. And after all, what’s the point of a betting column advising odds-on shouts? Dear readers can work that out for themselves, So here are picks of the best prices, starting from Saturday.
Rotherham United v Oxford United
It’s not exactly a glamour tie is it? But with the Millers bottom of the Championship and Oxford solid in mid-table League One, this fixture will probably occur in the same league next season. Rotherham have lost 15 of their last 18 in all competitions. They are low on confidence and poorly organised having let in an incredible 55 goals.
The bad news for the hosts is that Oxford are excellent at creating chances. Their goals expectancy is the highest in League One. They play with three wingers in the team, one at full-back. Talk about gung-ho. But they are remarkably solid at the back.
Oxford are 2.9 (Bet365). But we’ll take Paddy Power’s 2.1 about Oxford with the draw no bet.
Bristol City v Fleetwood
One of these teams is flying. The other is not. And it’s not the 1.7 shots. City just can’t seem to get going this term when expectation was huge.
On a six-match form table for all 92 league clubs in England, Fleetwood are 29th with three wins and three draws. City are 91st. Wow. Indeed, this is another contest where the teams could be in the same league next term. Unless Fleetwood, who are sixth in League One, go up and City come down.
Fleetwood are 5.5 (Bet365) to take the spoils. But they are as big as 4 with William Hill with the draw a no bet. We’ll fill our boots, thanks.
West Bromwich Albion v Derby County
We like the job Tony Pulis is doing at WBA. But it’s hard graft. They have to be constantly “at it”, so the football parlance goes. That means firing on all cylinders every week with maximum concentration just to compete. And they manage it.
But could they find it tricky to maintain those standards in this cup tie? Possibly. Derby and their players will see this as an audition for Premier League status and with their form good, they are taken to get a result. The draw is 3.6 (Bet365, Betfred and Paddy Power).
