Dutch Council of State rules in favour of state gambling monopoly

According to the highest civil court, the present Holland Casino\’s monopoly is justified by compelling reasons in the general interest. The Council of State overturned a ruling of the Administrative Court of Breda, which in December 2005 found the Dutch casino monopoly contrary to article 49 (freedom to provide services) of the EC Treaty.
