Suspicions of a rigged game surrounded Haka 8-0 win against Allianssi. The match attracted 50 per cent more bets than usual, with most people betting Haka would win by more than two goals.
Allianssi fielded nine debuting players under new Belgian coach Thierry Pister. The team had conceded just seven goals in their 11 previous league matches, but coach Pister denied any wrongdoing and said he wanted to try out new players for his first game because he was unimpressed by the existing squad.
“I have never seen anything like it. It could have ended 20-0. The main thing in football is to try one\’s best. Allianssi didn\’t. We haven\’t had such a crisis in Finnish football before,” said the Chief Executive of the Finnish League, Jan Walden.
The Finnish League\’s licensing committee will review the match result as well as the club\’s new ownership.
Alliansi was recently bought by former Belgian footballer Oliver Suray representing a Chinese businessman.
