As reported by the Financial Times, US prosecutors have linked the UK-listed bookmaker to a website, Bestlinesports.com, which employed members of the Gambino crime family to collect bets and make cash payoffs.
A spokesman for BetonSports said the company had a landlord-tenant relationship with Bestline Sports a few years ago, but he was unsure whether the relationship continued.
An investigation codenamed “Operation Goodfellas”, conducted in South Florida between 2000 and 2002, revealed the link between Bestline Sports and the Gambino crime family.
Last week, it emerged that Safe Deposit Sports, a Costa Rica-based sportsbook linked to the Bonanno crime family, shared the same office and technical support with BetonSports.
