Licensed last year by the Tasmanian Government, the betting exchange is close to satisfying requirements introduced by the Victorian Government in November under the Gambling Regulations Act.
The main issue related to accessing Betfair\’s betting records in the event of an inquiry is close to being resolved.
“We\’ve have made a lot of progress, addressing the integrity concerns that they\’ve got,” said Betfair\’s Director of Corporate and Business Affairs, Andrew Twaits, after a series of meetings with Racing Victoria representatives.
“At the moment we\’re looking at how the relationship might work in practice on a day-to-day basis with members of their integrity department.”
“It has taken a long time to get to this stage. Even if there are some doubts about the validity of the law, we fully intend to comply with the spirit of it and to develop a good working relationship with Racing Victoria,” added Twaits.
