Lubar and its Chief Executive, Yaakov Rafaeli, sued Playtech for patent infringement relating to its system and method for remote online gambling at actual casinos.
According to the lawsuit, Zubar was the first to make possible online gambling at an actual casino, where the operatori is a real person and the results are determined by actual roulette spins and not calculated by a computer.
Lubar, which has named three other defendants including Empire Online, alleges that they have parallel patents in the US and Australia and that they were applying for patents in Europe and acting to enforce their patent rights worldwide.
