The Australian bookmaker approached the AFL clubs about the creation of their own sports betting sites.

The idea is based on English Premier League soccer system, where clubs use bookmakers to run their sports betting sites, receiving an estimated 30 per cent of revenues.

At present, AFL clubs receive no direct revenue from Tattersall-owned Tipstar, which holds an exclusive license until 2007.

IASbet CEO Robert Edge said one club had already committed to betting through its website.

AFL general manager of commercial operation Gillon McLachlan said the possibility of clubs operating their own betting sites would depend on league regulations after the Tattersall\’s deal expired.
