According to a poll conducted last week by financial news channel CNBC, over 90 per cent of the American public wants to see online gambling legalized instead of prohibited. The Wall Street Journal conducted a surver earlier this year with similar results where 85 per cent of respondents said they don\’t want a ban.
Congressman Jon Porter, who introduced a bill calling for an 18-month study of internet gambling by a federal commission, confirmed he will be heading to the Isle of Man to learn more about how the island regulates internet gambling.
“Even with the position the House has taken, internet gambling is not going away,” Porter said. “This is a $12 billion business and the bulk is coming from the States. I think it should and needs to be regulated.”
