All we want is regulation

Mitch Garber, CEO of PartyGaming, speaking just few hours after the arrest of Sportingbet\’s Peter Dicks told the Guardian that the US are penalising companies for being innovative and for their speed of growth. “They [the US] have gaming themselves: casinos, racetracks and the like,” said Garber. “All we want is regulation.”

Garber also said that PartyGaming views the Asian market as a key plank in its strategy of reducing its reliance on America.

He told The Times that he had just returned from the Forbes Global CEO conference in Singapore, where he had met a number of potential partners. “I would hope to sign up an Asian partner by the end of the year.”

Garber added that in addition to geographic expansion, the group was seeking “strategic branding partners” to cross-promote its games, including mobile phone operators and car manufacturers.

In separate news, online gaming software developer Playtech, whose shares lost over 10% in the wake of Peter Dicks\’ arrest, reiterated in a statement to the stock market that it does not provide sports betting software and that it is not an online gaming operator. Its operations are the supply of licensed software to operators in online casino, poker and bingo markets. In this regard the company can see no reason for the decline in its share price.
