While Ontario is trying to pass a law to stop advertising for online betting sites, the Alexander First Nation, a native American community located near Edmonton in the Alberta province, announced the formation of an online gambling commission and the opening of a state-of-the-art data centre.
A spokesperson for the Alexander Gaming Commission said they will be offering online gaming licenses to qualified applicants. The newly formed Commsion is also confident that its regulations will ensure a safe, high-quality environment for internet gamblers.
UPDATE: Cheryl Giblon, Alexander Internet Technologies global sales and marketing, told eGaming Review that they are in discussion with a number of companies for licenses.
“We want to make sure everything is operated and managed. Before getting a licence there is a lot of work to be done to make sure operators are above board,” she added.
