A Liverpool punter collected almost £800,000 for a £30 bet with Ladbrokes, the biggest-ever payout on a horseracing wager in UK or Ireland.
Ian Carswell, a former internet trader with bookmaker Stanleybet, combined six selections in a series of two bets, a Lucky 63 and an each-way accumulator, whose combined odds totalled 194,000-1.
“I\’ve been doing the same bet for years and couldn\’t believe it as I was watching it on television,” said Carswell.
“His is one of the most remarkable wins we\’ve seen in our history,” said Ladbrokes spokesman Warren Lush.
