In Germany, the Federal Competition Authority has issued the German lottery companies with a renewed warning about their anti-competitive actions. The warning follows the resolution of August 23 which declared the so-called regionalism principle, used by the federal states to erect market barriers and close down internet lottery operators, to be not applicable. The supreme German competition authority has consequently extended the scope of the previous proceedings against the lottery companies and confirmed that most federal states have violated European competition law when requesting lottery companies to close down their internet services.
