The deal will see the online casino and poker operator logo placed on Villa\’s shirts for at least the next two seasons. 32Red will also become the club\’s official online gaming partner.
Under the terms of the agreement, 32Red will pay a basic six figure sum per season, with Aston Villa receiving additional revenues under its marketing affiliate arrangement with the online casino.
“This partnership fits into our strategic marketing plans extremely well. Our presence at targeted sporting events including Premiership and Championship football matches and horse racing meetings has worked well for us to date. This deal will sit very well alongside those activities, as well as our existing online marketing programmes.,” commented Ed Ware, CEO of 32Red.
“Importantly, this sponsorship will also significantly enhance our brand recognition by bringing us television, national press and other media coverage in Britain and around the world. It is a measured but significant step forward for the 32Red brand. Aston Villa FC is one of the UK\’s biggest clubs and we are very pleased to be associated with them,” added Ware.
“During the course of this season, we\’ve had discussions with a number of companies who were interested in putting their name on the front of the shirt,” said Stuart Ryan, Aston Villa Sales Director.
“But ultimately, this is the best deal for the club, in so many ways. 32Red is a modern, pro-active company at the forefront of its sector and we\’re looking forward to working with them as commercial partners rather than merely sponsors. In addition, the deal represents an exciting and potentially lucrative opportunity for the club to maximize the commercial advantages of an arrangement which secures initial seasonal payments and a potential share in revenue drawn from 32Red\’s online casino and poker services. It all means the overall package could be worth a healthy seven figure sum per season to the club,” concluded Ryan.
Earlier last week, Austrian bookmaker BetandWin announced a deal with German Bundesliga team Werder Bremen. Under the agreement, which will run for the next three years with an option for an extension, BetandWin logo will be prominently displayed both on the team\’s shirts and on its training and coaching gear.
Marcus Meyer, Director of BetandWin, said: “The contract with Werder Bremen is a big step for betandwin. This is our first time as the main sponsor of a Bundesliga club. From the beginning our collaboration with Werder Bremen was one of great mutual appreciation. By taking on the new shirt and main sponsorship, betandwin is supporting one of Germany\’s most likable clubs on its way to the European elite.”
Manfred Müller, Managing Director Marketing of Werder Bremen, added: “For Werder Bremen, the contract with betandwin represents a real milestone and the logical evolution of a partnership that has closely united us for two years already. betandwin puts a successful company and a vibrant, powerful and innovative brand at our side – the very traits embodied by Werder Bremen.”
