Shore: The Story So Far
Jack Shore is undoubtedly one of the pound-for-pound national greats hailing from Wales, but the Welsh aren’t exactly delivering top-tier competitors by the dozen. He’s lost just 1 of his 7 UFC bouts to date, but don’t be surprised should he struggle as a featherweight compared to the 135lb weight class he’s accustomed to.

UFC 301 Brito vs. Shore: Skillset Breakdown
Shore has that dog in him, but his UFC success to date has been as a bantamweight. He’s not a small featherweight by any means, but watching him struggle in the first round against an average Makwan Amirkhani last time out doesn’t bode well for him moving forward.
Notably, Shore’s lone loss came against Ricky Simon, who was outmuscled and bullied by his physical disadvantage. It just so happens that Brito is of a similar stature and strength level.
Shore is well-versed and has some noteworthy wins on his record, but watching him get bullied at 135 lbs by Simon gives me the feeling that Brito, with an imposing physicality, can replicate this game plan.
Brito Moneyline Reasoning
The submission and KO/TKO threat are ever-present; his ability to work from the bottom position to his feet is commendable, he can exchange strikes on the feet with deadly intent, and the physicality he brings to the octagon is often unmatchable. There aren’t many reasons not to love Brito this weekend, and for good measure, he’s fighting on home soil in Brazil.

Ruffy: The Story So Far
Ruffy is a fitting surname for Mauricio because 90% of his opponents have endured a rough time in the octagon when opposed to this prosperous Brazilian talent.
Upon his arrival to Dana White’s Contender Series last October, Ruffy dispatched Raimond Magomedaliev effortlessly, taking his pro record to 9-1 with a clean 100% knockout rate.

Mullarkey: The Story So Far
Jamie Mullarkey joins fellow compatriot Steve Erceg in Rio de Janeiro this weekend, but with 10 UFC bouts to date, the Aussie has struggled to find consistency behind a 5-5 promotional record.

We have a fighter in Mullarkey who often succeeds in mixing up his attacks. He has favored a wrestling offense in most of his recent winning outings. Consistency has been a huge red flag; whether he’s an underdog or a significant betting favorite, he can always find a way to lose.
Another cause for concern is Mullarkey’s durability, especially after he was taken out by Nasrat Haqparast last time out, a fighter renowned for winning most of his fights via decision. This factor doesn’t bode well when you examine Ruffy’s career thus far, a debutant who has won all nine of his pro bouts via KO/TKO.
Another interesting point is the weight cut of Ruffy, who’s used to fighting and flatlining welterweights, will now drop to 155lbs. Should he get on the scales with minimum complications, Mullarkey’s chin will be a gift for the hometown favorite, who has the brute force to finish a fight at any moment.
Ruffy Moneyline Reasoning
I rarely find confidence in backing UFC debutants, especially at a slightly juiced price. However, Mullarkey’s primary path to victory is through a grappling game plan; watching Ruffy sprawl and brawl against the strong wrestling Magomedaliev provides us with a strong case for the Brazilian’s takedown defense.
Additionally, Ruffy has proven cardio, and his finishing capabilities aren’t limited to round one. We saw him finish opponents in every round, making it feel like the perfect setup as he’s handed an opponent in Mullarkey whose durability is shot.
