Vegas and Denver are the kings of their sports and both were No. 1 seeds in their conferences. We have a couple of stories on these champs.

Another absurd night in baseball. In particular in New York and Oakland. We have the latest betting odds for the US Open Golf tournament and the College World Series with wagering thoughts on both. This and many other interesting stories along with free picks and top trends.

About Last Night…

NHL

Congrats to the Vegas Golden Knights in the blowout win over Florida. Though a day late, also congrats to the Denver Nuggets. Those first-time champs also accomplished something else that was unique.

Also, a special mention to coach Bruce Cassidy of VGK, who was fired at Boston, who went on to have the greatest regular season ever in hockey and flamed out in the playoffs. Cassidy proved to have the right touch to bring out the best in his club.

MLB

It was a wild day in baseball starting in the Big Apple. The New York Mets had a 5-0 lead over the Yankees with Max Scherzer and gave it away. Mets reliever Drew Smith was set to come in the 7th inning but he was tossed before he threw a pitch, deemed to have sticky substance on his hands. Besides blowing the lead, the Mets had countless chances to win the game in their 7-6 setback as -152 home favorites, as they were 3-of-15 with runners in scoring position.

The ever-underachieving L.A. Angels have taken the first two games in Texas and moved to within six games in the loss column of the Rangers. The Halos have won eight of nine and scored 5.7 RPG in this stretch and have gotten good pitching.

Quite literally, we could talk about the Oakland A’s this season in every article. Last night, they won their seventh straight contest, lifting them to “only” 31 games below .500. Last night’s 2-1 triumph was bizarre because almost 28,000 showed up to protest that the owner should sell the team and watch their “hot” club. Not sure what giving the owner more money by attending a game accomplishes but it was quite a wild scene.

Trendy Talk

MLB

  • Boston is 0-7 in home games vs. an NL team with an on-base percentage of .325 or worse this season.
  • Baltimore is 28-11 vs. an AL team with an on-base percentage of .330 or worse this season.
  • N.Y. Mets are 6-15 vs. a starting pitcher who strikes out five or more batters per start.
  • Chic. White Sox are 10-21 after three or more consecutive losses in the last two seasons.
  • Washington is 14-4 Under in interleague road games the last two seasons.
  • L. Castillo of the Mariners is 5-0 when starting against Miami in his career.
  • M. Kelly and D-Backs are 12-2 when the money line is -100 to -150 the last three seasons.

CFL

  • Calgary is 6-0 ATS as a road favorite. (Thursday)
  • Saskatchewan is 1-8 ATS in home games versus division opponents. (Friday)

What to Watch For and Win (Hopefully)

MLB

We continue our daily baseball trek with a load of free MLB picks in a variety of ways to appease as many bettors as possible.

Golf

This week is the 3rd major of the year, the U.S. Open. We have analysis and a betting preview along with free picks.

The Buzz

US Open Golf – A Great Back Story Where Tournament Is Being Held

https://www.espn.com/golf/story/_/id/37849339/los-angeles-country-club-mystery-us-open

Odds To Win – (From Bovada)

  • Scottie Scheffler (+650)
  • Brooks Koepka (+1100)
  • Jon Rahm (+1100)
  • Rory McIlroy (+1600)
  • Viktor Hovland (+1800)
  • Patrick Cantlay (+2000)
  • Xander Schauffele (+2000)
  • Cameron Smith (+2500)
  • Jordan Spieth (+2500)
  • Max Homa (+2500)

Hard not to like Scheffler and looks like a good bet for a Top 5 and or Top 10 finish. Though his game has been off, Justin Thomas for Top 20 is worth looking into.

College Sports – Big-Time Money

When you hear coaches and athletic directors and presidents of universities talk about – Student Athletes – make sure your BS meter goes off. Here is the proof with last year’s Top 25 revenue generators. (Notre Dame does not disclose their numbers.)

Men's College World Series – Betting Notes

Odds To Win (BetOnline)

  • Wake Forest (+250)
  • LSU (+375)
  • Florida (+375)
  • Virginia (+600)
  • TCU (+700)
  • Tennessee (+800)
  • Stanford (+1400)
  • Oral Roberts (+2000)

Wake Forest enters as No. 1 in the country and no No. 1 team has won this event since 1999. The Demon Deacons have tremendous starting pitching and the ballpark in Omaha is pitcher-friendly. However, LSU and Florida are quite capable of winning it all with balanced clubs.

Top Betting System

MLB – Nationals at Astros (-125 RL)

Play Against underdogs with a moneyline of +150 or more like Washington after two straight games where they committed no errors, against an opponent after a game they hit four or more home runs. Teams like the Nationals are 11-66 in this spot and most importantly for the run line, they are losing by 3.4 RPG.

Out the Door

NHL – The Golden Knights Were Something

From @OptaSTATS - The Golden Knights are the first team in NHL history to win the Stanley Cup Final with multiple wins by 5+ goals and without losing by multiple goals.

MLB – Here is a Crazy Story of Opportunistic Greed Occurring Right Now in Baseball
