LOL there's no discussion here

If it were SEC opener it'd be close

Too much film on TN for GA defense to watch, they shut em down

34-17 Bulldogs and I'm guessing H-Bomb will be there to rally them as well

Wow. Is Georgia that much better than Tennessee? 8.5 points....

So here are their SP+ rankings for Offense and Defense:
  • Tennessee Offense #2
  • Tennessee Defense #40
  • Georgia Offense #7
  • Georgia Defense #4
So the ony weak spot is Tennessee defense. Where is the weakness????? Pass Defense.

Rankings according to ypg on offense and defense:
Off Rush YdsRkOff Pass YdsRkDef Rush YdsRkDef Pass YdsRk
Tenn199.424333.1695.69298.6121
Georgia212.915324.77958186.915

Tennessee pass defense has given up some yards and Georgia can pass. Tennessee might be vulnerable in the air.

The only comparable opponents each team has faced this year are:

Tennessee vs Alabama @ Tenn and Tenn won by 3 w/ a FG with no time left on clock.
Georgia vs Oregon week 1 @ Bama and Bama won by 3 but that was a long time ago.

I think Georgia AT HOME will win and likely cover but I have to admit Tennesee impressed the hell out of me with the ass-kicking of Kentucky last week.

The more I look at this the more I like Tennessee +8Ā½ or even the +8 that is offered. Georgia has a stout defense. I am seeing improvement in the Vols defense in that Kentucky game. I am not totally sold on the Georgia offense and getting over a touchdown looks sweet.

FYI - Georgia did lose Nolan Smith (LB) this week with a torn pectoral muscle. He is their 5th leading tackler and leading team with sacks.

This hurts their defense a little.

No. 2 Tennessee at No. 1 Georgia (-9, 65.5)

3:30 p.m. ET, Sanford Stadium, Athens, Georgia

  • Tennessee is 7-1 ATS this season, tied with Tulane for the best cover percentage in the FBS.
  • No top-2 team has been at least an eight-point underdog since the 2020 ACC Championship Game (No. 2 Notre Dame was +11 against No. 4 Clemson; Clemson won by 24).
  • Then nine-point spread is the largest spread in a 1-vs-2 matchup since 2013 when No. 1 Florida State was a 9-point favorite over No. 2 Auburn in the BCS Championship Game; FSU won by 3.
  • Underdogs in 1-vs-2 matchups are 24-12-1 ATS and 20-17 outright since the 1978 FBS/FCS split, including 4-0 ATS in the last 10 seasons (2-2 SU).
  • Underdogs of at least 7 points in 1-vs-2 matchups are 8-2 ATS and 6-4 SU since 1978 (1-2 ATS and SU last 15 seasons).
