Michael Jordan signed with Nike in 1984. 5 years 2.5M.
Clark is H U G E relative to Michael first coming out of college. Probably got $50M and will have her own shoe soon.

Michael's Air Jordan will be outsold by the "Clark Corn Flyers" in 3 years. :ROFLMAO:

It’s at least 10 million

It's at least 20 million.

That's what they're saying.

I would have to say close to double what Sabrina got if not more.

Clark deserves more than double. She’s so much bigger than Sabrina ever was

Reality, just by the record viewer numbers she’s brought to every aspect of the game, the draft, etc., she probably deserves somewhere in the $70-80 million range (not saying she’ll get that but she deserves it)

I could definitely see a bidding war for her to sign

Clark has a lot of pressure now. She has to play better than just to win. But has to be expected to put on a 3 pt show

She is battle tested, had a fan following selling out games to see her.

She carried the weight of the NCAAW basketball on her shoulders and it culminated in viewership rating records.

She just has to do what she do and she'll be fine.

But novelty can wear off so we'll just how much of a long term boost the WNBA gets. Sounds like the Fever and merchandise already selling big, for this season.

100% correct - this is a FAD.

Look at WNBA viewership in 1997 - opened with 3 million and the finals pulled 1.5 million.

By 2016 - the numbers were in the low hundred thousands.

Now they are talking a ratings bonanza and a million viewers. Great - you right back to where you ended your first year. It’s not sustainable though long term.

You have a superstar that connects with people - great - but you also have the Tiger Woods effect on the sport - people are following 1 superstar - and when they aren’t in the game - no one cares. Fact is she is playing on a woeful team and while they will undoubtedly improve - they likely won’t make the finals. No star - no one watches the finals.

I think overall she is a great boost to women’s sports and along with NIL will create more awareness and attention. But she isn’t gonna revolutionize the game quite yet.

Kudos to her for actually going to the WNBA though and trying to help - could have taken Big3 offer - or jumped overseas for more $$ - the WNBA isn’t going to bring her bigger endorsements - but she does have a chance to boost the income for a struggling league and help them grow. How many WNBA franchises folded since its inception ? Compare to how many other major sports franchises have folded in 50 years…clearly they aren’t lying when they say the league is not highly profitable - yet.
