Every week at Bookmakers Review, we bring you key betting insights from BookMaker, which is considered to be one of the best offshore sportsbooks available.

As we head into the third week of the college football season, there has been plenty of line movement based on sharp action, including Pittsburgh over West Virginia and much more. As for Week 2 in the NFL, both the public and sharps have been aligned on picks like the Patriots and Jaguars.

On this page, you’ll find a breakdown of inside information from BookMaker, giving you an idea of where both public and sharp money are going in college football and the NFL.

College Football Week 3: Insider's Edge

Early Sharp Action: Pittsburgh vs. West Virginia

Sharps have moved the Pittsburgh line from -4 to -6.5 over West Virginia. The wise guys like the Panthers to keep it rolling following a pair of blowouts to start the season. Meanwhile, Miami has been steamed from -15 to -17 against South Florida. The Hurricanes are riding high, coming off a 4-3 victory over Bethune.

Other notable college football odds movements based on sharp action are live dogs like Florida, going from +9 to +7.5 against LSU, as well as Duke +2.5 to +1 vs. Tulane. As for game totals, sharps like a higher scoring game than the opener of 43 points in Colorado vs. Houston, as it’s now gone to 45 total points.

Sharps and Public in Lockstep

The sharps and the public are aligned on the following wagers, according to BookMaker lines manager Jack S:

  • Northwestern +27 vs Oregon
  • Pittsburgh -6.5 at West Virginia
  • Florida +7.5 at LSU
  • Duke +1 at Tulane

With how the sharps have steamed up the lines in Pittsburgh and Florida, these look like two of the best college football bets for Week 3. You’re still getting past the key number of seven on each side, with Pittsburgh -6.5 at less than a touchdown and Florida +7.5 at more than a touchdown.

NFL Week 2: Insider's Edge

Early Sharp Action: New England vs. Miami

The biggest mover of the week due to early sharp action was the Patriots going from +3.5 to +1 against the Dolphins. This isn’t surprising, though, as public perception on Miami couldn’t be lower right now, following a blowout loss to the Colts. What is a bit surprising is how the wise guys have moved the Jaguars from +4 to +3 according to the latest NFL odds. Seems that they’re overvaluing the Bengals disappointing showing in an underwhelming 17-16 win over the lowly Browns.

Sharps Backing the Broncos

The sharps are all over Broncos -1.5 on the road against the Colts, trying to take advantage of a short price. Denver looks a bit undervalued here because they struggled to beat the Titans at home, while the Colts blew out the Dolphins in Week 1. The Texans have moved from -2.5 to -3 in a home game vs the Bucs. It’s a great spot for their pass rush against an undermanned Tampa offensive line, currently without All-Pro left tackle Tristan Wirfs.

Sharps and Public in Lockstep

The sharps and the public are in sync on the following wagers, per Jack S. of BookMaker

  • Patriots +1 at Dolphins
  • Jaguars +3 at Bengals
  • Broncos -1.5 at Colts
  • Texans -3 vs Buccaneers

I’m fading the sharps by leaning towards a Dolphins bounce back, along with the Bengals taking care of business vs the Jaguars. Miami has a home field advantage during hot September games, since their stadium is designed in a way to keep their sidelined shaded and the visitors in the scorching heat. The Dolphins are 7-0 in home day games in September in the last three seasons. I also wasn’t impressed with Trevor Lawrence in Week 1, so he may take some time to adjust to Liam Coen’s offense, which is why I’m on Cincinnati.

Where I’m in lockstep with the public and sharps is on the Texans -3 at home vs the Buccaneers. This looks like one of the best NFL bets for Week 3 due to Houston’s advantage with their defense against a porous Buccaneers’ offensive line. Look for Houston to bounce back offensively against a vulnerable Buccaneers’ pass defense.
