Super Bowl Contenders, Sleepers to Watch

Buffalo Bills (+600)

The Buffalo Bills bring back most of the same roster from last season, which was one of the best teams in the league.

Their stars should be happy, as team leaders QB Josh Allen, DE Greg Rousseau, and LB Terrel Bernard were all extended. The Bills made another move to improve their pass rush by bringing in DE Joey Bosa.

The Bills are first in the Super Bowl odds because they do have the reigning MVP, Josh Allen.

Allen has been one of the best players in the league and improves every year. Allen’s combination of strong downfield passing, combined with his ability to tuck the ball and run to pick up key first downs, makes him one of the most dynamic offensive players in the league.

However, it’s tough to see what the Bills did that made them the Super Bowl favorite. The Kansas City Chiefs can consistently beat them in the playoffs and the Baltimore Ravens roster looks to be more stacked. While, of course the Bills do have an excellent chance to win the Super Bowl, this price is too low to make this bet a worthy consideration.

Baltimore Ravens (+650)

It is my opinion that the Baltimore Ravens have the best roster in the NFL.

The Ravens have a talented offense, a strong offensive line, and are packed with talent at all three levels of their defense. The Ravens consistently dominate in the regular season, yet come up short during the playoffs. Will this be the year the Ravens finally break through?

The Ravens continue to learn from their mistakes, and Lamar Jackson and his team were much better in this playoffs than in the last. I think this team will continue to improve, and this should be the rightful favorite to win the AFC as well as the Super Bowl.

It all comes down to the ability of Lamar Jackson to perform in crunch time, and with his increased level of play in each one of his playoff appearances, he is finally ready to make the leap. The Baltimore Ravens are an excellent bet to win this season’s Super Bowl.

Philadelphia Eagles (+ 750)

The Eagles dominated in the Super Bowl, and have by far the best defense in the league. Not only that, their strong offensive line means they dominate the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball.

It is often hard for teams to go back-to-back because of the increased wear and tear, not to mention the mental strain that a playoff run can put on these teams’ players. After the Eagles’ previous Super Bowl appearance, they fell short the next season and lost in the wild card.

This could happen again this year.

Eagles running back Saquon Barkley was instrumental in the Eagles’ offensive success. However, with the amount of touches he endured last season, I wonder if he will be able to stay healthy once again.

Barkley is the recipient of the dreaded “Madden Curse” that is being on the cover of John Madden football and usually predicts catastrophic injury. Even without the superstition, I think it is likely that Barkley’s production takes a step back.

Because of the wear and tear on their roster I do not think the Eagles will repeat this season.

Kansas City Chiefs (+850)

No Super Bowl preview will be complete without mentioning the Chiefs, who always seem to make it to the Super Bowl.

The Chiefs fell short last season as the Eagles’ defense was too much for them to handle. The Chiefs are hoping to be more aggressive on offense this season with the emergence of playmaker Xavier Worthy, whose speed and connection with Patrick Mahomes remind some of the role that Tyreek Hill played in the early Chiefs Super Bowl wins. The Chiefs also made additions to their offensive line.

The Chiefs are always a good bet when it comes to the Super Bowl. Even facing teams with more talented rosters, the Chiefs always manage to pull out the game in the end. This team just knows how to win. Bet the Chiefs right now at this excellent price.

Green Bay Packers (+950)

The Green Bay Packers exploded onto the scene by trading for one of the best defensive players in the league in Micah Parsons. This vaulted the Packers up the odds board significantly. The Packers were as long as 20 to 1 at some points during the offseason.

This move was excellent; it makes the Packers the clear second-best team in the NFC behind the Eagles. I’ve already detailed why I do not think the Eagles will replicate their success so the Packers seem to me a logical choice to usurp the current champions.

However, at this current price, I think that some of the value you would have had on betting the Packers is gone. The price now seems correct. While the praises for the Packers are deserved, at this price it is not worth a bet

Place These Bets Now

During the NFL season, many things can change. Particularly with the long shot plays, as these prices will disappear soon. Not to mention, an injury to a different top contender could vault a team such as the Ravens or the Chiefs’ price to a much lower payout.

Prices change constantly in the world of sports betting and market timing is key.
