Having just regained the lead in the AL West, the Seattle Mariners look to remain on top when they send George Kirby (3-3, 4.15) to the mound in the series opener against Brady Singer (3-1, 2.36) and the Kansas City Royals.
KC Off Series Win in Anaheim
Singer hasn’t allowed more than a run in any of his last 3 assignments, and is coming off a winning performance over the Brewers last Wednesday. The Royals split his 2 starts against the Mariners last season, winning at home and dropping the contest at T-Mobile Park.
Kirby got knocked around last week in Minnesota where he opened as a short favorite at top sportsbooks and served up 3 HR in a loss to the Twins. He has won 3 of his 4 home starts, however, and has allowed just 1 HR in his last 35 IP in Seattle.
M’s 6-1 vs. Royals in ‘23
Seattle ruled the season series a year ago, taking 6 of the 7 contests and closing as pretty significant chalk in several of those matchups.
The ‘over’ also cashed in 6 of the 7 meetings, and both sides (KC 4-2 O/U, Seattle 6-0 O/U) have been going that direction in the last week after beginning the season as solid ‘under’ bets. We’ll go that way as well with our MLB pick.
