There’s nothing better than a Friday night in the MLB. This typically means we’ve got new matchups and every single team playing. That’s the case tonight.

MLB Picks Today At-a-glance
We’re starting to get warmer weather now that we’re in the middle of April. This is going to help many batters heat up and lift balls out of the yard.
I’m eying a couple of games where we should see plenty of runs. Let’s earn some money to begin the weekend!
Detroit Tigers vs. Boston Red Sox (-126)
Monday, April 17, 2026 – 7:15 PM ET at Fenway Park
The Detroit Tigers have penciled in Casey Mize for the start tonight. The right-hander was expected to take a big jump this season for the Tigers. Instead, he’s allowed a .478 ISO and wOBA of .602 to right-handed batters this season, something that stands out in our matchup previews.
Unfortunately for him, he’ll face a Red Sox lineup that has five righties in the lineup, despite Mize being a right-handed pitcher himself.
On the flip side, he’ll compete against Ranger Suarez of the Red Sox, who has allowed a .341 wOBA to all batters this season. He’s earned just 8% swinging strikes and has given up 54.5% of hard contact with 18.3% of strikeouts. He had a career year last season, but that hasn’t carried over into this year with a new team.
The Tigers’ projected lineup has struck out below 22.5% of the time against lefties and has hit a .356 wOBA against lefties since last season. The Tigers should work Suarez and score some runs, too.
Therefore, consider the Over 8 in this game.

Cincinnati Reds vs. Minnesota Twins (-178)
Monday, April 17, 2026 – 8:10 PM ET at Target Field
The Reds are set to pitch left-hander Brandon Williamson tonight. He’s struck out below 15% of all batters and has allowed 14.5% of walks to righties, while giving up 34.2% of fly balls to righties, trends that stand out when analyzing today’s baseball betting lines.
Tonight, he’ll battle a Twins lineup that should have eight righties in the lineup. The righties in the projected lineup have hit 28% of fly balls against lefties since last season. They’ve also added nearly 45% of hard contact against lefties.
Williamson has allowed a 10.5% barrel percentage with 47.4% of hard contact. Look for the Twins to take advantage.
Meanwhile, it’ll be Joe Ryan for the Twins. He’s become the ace pitcher of the staff. Ultimately, the right-hander has allowed a .105 ISO and wOBA of .259 to all batters this season. He’s struck out about 26% of batters and has walked only 7.1% of batters.
The Reds’ projected lineup has five batters who have struck out more than 25% of the time against righties since last season. That won’t help against an ace like Ryan.
Give me the Twins at -1.5 (+118). This game can get out of hand quickly.
