The PGA Tour heads to Maryland this week for the BMW Championship, and we’ve scoured the odds at the top sportsbooks to find the best value plays for one of the year’s most anticipated events.

2025 BMW Championship

August 14 – August 17, 2025 at Caves Valley Golf Club

Course Notes

  • Cave Valley Golf Club
  • Owings Mills, Maryland
  • Par 70, 7601 yards
  • Designer – Tom Fazio
  • An undulating parklands course with tightish fairways and Bentgrass smaller than average greens.
  • There is a premium on accuracy this week from tee-to-green and a solid test of a golfer’s skills off the tee and approaching the greens.
  • With a winning score of 27-under par back in 2021, we can expect an easy test of scoring ahead in good weather conditions, though it needs noting they have added 150 yards and reduced par to 70 for this year’s renewal.

Can Cantlay climb the Caves once again?

It’s been a season to forget for Patrick Cantlay on the PGA Tour, but the signs were encouraging last week at the St. Jude Championship when he finished 9th for his fourth top 10 of the season, bringing his current ranking in the FedEx Series to 19th.

Given that perspective, the undemonstrative Cantlay will be quietly pleased that the PGA Tour is heading to Caves Valley Golf Club this week, a track that holds fond memories for the thirty-three-year-old Californian.  It was four years ago to the week that he won an epic sudden death six-hole play-off there with Bryson DeChambeau.

Motivation is at its highest for Cantlay with his Ryder Cup participation for the United States hanging by a thread; indeed, he needs to win this event to shake up the captain’s Keegan Bradley’s choices.

What is really encouraging for Patrick Cantlay is his growing affinity for the BMW Championship, proven by the fact that he defended his title in 2022, interestingly, that was his last PGA Tour title, which is a long time for a player ranked as high who has eight PGA career wins.

Motivation is at its peak this week, asking for one big effort to make the Ryder Cup team, let alone this big money FedEx Series, so let’s bet on Patrick Cantlay to win his third BMW Championship at Bovada (visit our Bovada Review).

Motivation keeps you looking Young!

With Patrick Cantlay, we discussed his motivation to make the Ryder Cup, and that applies to the native New Yorker Cameron Young would love nothing more than to represent the United States at the Big Apple in front of his home fans, and he has stated it in the media when saying that he,

“Set out the year to give our captain no choice, and I don’t know if I’m able to do that or not. But if I’m in the question, that’s been a big goal of mine and I’d love to put myself there anyway.”

Indeed, there is also the case of redemption for the twenty-eight-year-old who was dreadfully unlucky to miss out on a trip to Rome when snubbed by the then Captain Zach Johnson for the event back in 2023 after finishing 9th in the points list.

Then there is the case for Young on his current form alone, which could easily be described as his best on the PGA Tour with a 5th place finish last week at the St. Jude, backing up his maiden PGA title the week previous at the Wyndham Championship when he poleaxed the field by six shots.

The case and motivation for Cameron Young will be at an all-time peak in the coming days, and when many are just picking up season ending cheques, he has a chance to win the BMW Championship and lock up his spot after Ryder Cup berth, which guarantees he will be laser focused.
