It’s time for the annual celebration of Mexican Independence as The Ultimate Fighting Championship returns with an absolute banger of a fight card stacked with Latin American talent!
Rob Font, David Martinez, Jared Gordon, and Rafa Garcia are involved in two main card bangers, and I’m seeing some credible UFC betting value up for grabs.

Eleven years following his UFC debut, Florida’s Rob Font continues to thrive at the ripe age of 38. We cannot ignore the fact that his current UFC record stands at 12-7. However, said losses have come against the best of the best: former champions, title challengers, and top-five-ranked fighters!

Fighter Preview: David Martinez
Raul Rosas Jr. was replaced as an opponent for Font on short notice by a fellow countryman, David Martinez. The former Combate Global champion clearly lacks experience in the UFC. But with eight consecutive wins, six by knockout, we cannot ignore his finishing potential and opportunity to boost his name up the rankings this weekend.

Font vs. Martinez: Fight Tape Analysis
He’s fought some of the best bantamweights on the planet. He’s had success in some of those bouts. Whenever he’s fought a lower level of competition… it hasn’t been close. Yet, for some unknown reason, Rob Font enters Noche this weekend as a reasonable betting favorite.
Yes, we know Martinez can crack. He ran through Saimon Oliveira in his UFC debut earlier this year with a first-round knockout. Before this, his aggressive style had seen him demolish all regional scene foes for four straight years. However, there are levels to this. And when Martinez doesn’t find the kill shot, he’ll be standing across from one of the smoothest, most technical boxers at 135lbs.
Font might be fighting beyond his prime years. But ask Adrian Yanez, Kyler Phillips, and Jean Matsumoto – three young prospects – how that turned out for them? The straight shots of Font alone are perfect for keeping power punchers at bay. And let’s not forget: Font has some legitimate finishing potential of his own!

The UFC odds place Font as the betting favorite. The price, however, looks incredibly short at -126. There’s a world where Martinez turns Font into a meme with his power, but the reality is, the Mexican up-and-comer is way too inexperienced to match the talents of the veteran.
We don’t need to overthink this one. Take the more experienced, versatile, and savvy veteran, Rob Font, on the moneyline. Martinez is knockout or bust, and guess what… Nobody has ever, not even Deiveson Figueiredo or Cory Sandhagen, managed to break the chin of Font.

Fighter Preview: Jared Gordon
Jared Gordon is arguably the most underrated lightweight competitor in the UFC. Questionable decisions – Nasrat Haqparast and Paddy Pimblett – as well as a no-contest versus King Green have stunted his growth into the top-15 rankings. And much like Rob Font, who fights after him this weekend, a lower level of competition cannot compete with him.

Fighter Preview: Rafa Garcia
With a lack of Mexican star power available for Noche UFC this weekend, Rafa Garcia has been gifted a spot on the main despite his lack of success since joining the promotion. Don’t get me wrong: a 5-4 UFC record isn’t the worst. However, those five wins were against non-ranked, mediocre opponents.

Gordon vs. Garcia: Fight Tape Analysis
Since his early UFC tenure, we’ve watched Gordon’s boxing evolve in front of our eyes, after an unfair run of wrong decisions and unfortunate results. He’s now returning from a knockout win over a respected name in Thiago Moises, and Saturday’s matchmaking is a huge drop-down in competition that he can thrive against.
Garcia has predominantly been a boxer. He does have some power, and sure, he might have some pep in his step on Mexican Independence Day weekend. Unfortunately for him, when you evaluate all areas of MMA, Gordon will hold the advantages.
As the fighter who’s often shorter than his opponents, Gordon has done well. Now, he’ll have the luxury of competing against a similar-sized foe, and this heightens my love for his chance of victory ever more.
Noche UFC Main Card Odds & Prediction
The UFC pricing at the top sportsbooks places Gordon as a significant betting favorite. If you aren’t willing to lay juice on the moneyline (a perfect parlay piece, btw), then we can more than likely bank on Garcia’s durability to force this fight to the scorecards.
Like many Mexican natives, losing by knockout is rarely on the table. It’s like their DNA is built with granite chins. For this reason, Gordon will probably need to school him for three rounds. So, take the better price of -130 for him to win on points.
