This is a silly story.

You’re not betting against the track in horse racing, you’re, in essence, betting against other bettors because it’s parimutual betting.

In other words, all the money bet is pooled together and distributed after the track takes its percentage out.

The more that is wagered, the more the track makes as a result of its percentage take out of the win bets, the exotics, etc.
