In the blink of an eye, we are already looking into the NFL odds for Week 5, and today, we bring you the best bets at the early numbers.
- We went one win and one push with the Jets to still play the Dolphins, bringing our record to 6-4-1.
- Last week saw the first tie of the year, a high-scoring, entertaining draw between the Green Bay Packers and the Dallas Cowboys.
- The Baltimore Ravens found themselves 1-3 after a resounding loss to an improving Kansas City Chiefs team.
Let us get straight into NFL week 4 with three early plays.
New York Giants vs. New Orleans Saints (+1.5)
Sunday, October 05, 01:00 PM EDT
This week, the New Orleans Saints might finally get their first win of the year at the fifth attempt.
The 0-4 is a poor look for the Saints, but their results have not been as bad as they appear. Last week’s 19-31 loss to the high-flying Buffalo Bills was a match in which they were super competitive, despite being on the road.
This week, they are back in the Superdome against a New York Giants team that got its first win last week at home against the Los Angeles Chargers. The worry this week for the Giants is that they lacked a passing game under rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart, and that is what will be required at the inside Dome.
With the New Orleans Saints being the home dogs, we are going with the spread in what could be a closely fought low low-scoring game.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Seattle Seahawks (-2.5)
Sunday, October 05, 04:05 PM EDT
This looks like the perfect week to support the Seattle Seahawks against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Seattle Seahawks were impressive winners on TNF of Week 4, beating the Arizona Cardinals 23-20. It was a match they controlled better than the final score looked, as the Cardinals rallied in the final quarter from 17-6 behind.
The good news is that the Seahawks have a longer preparation for week 5 than the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who have more injury concerns in defense after their loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
If the injury concerns do not improve, this number is going to move to 3 or 3.5, so step in as soon as possible.
Houston Texans vs. Baltimore Ravens (-9)
Sunday, October 05, 01:00 PM EDT
We discussed how the Ravens are 1-3, after being one of the favourites for the Super Bowl, and how bleak the injury news looks. Elite quarterback Lamar Jackson is the biggest concern, along with four other key players, though Jim Harbaugh did state none of them were season-ending.
Putting points on the board against a stubborn Texans will be nowhere near as easy without Lamar Jackson. In fact, that makes the spread look big at over a touchdown.
The Houston Texans are coming off their first win of the year, a shutout win against the Tennessee Titans. With all their defeats being low-scoring games, they can be expected to keep within a touchdown spread.
Right now, +6.5 at (–108) is a solid margin around a touchdown; it’s also reasonable to take as low as +5 if the line shortens further.
