Kansa City Chiefs vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Sunday, February 12, 2023 – 06:30 PM EST at State Farm Stadium

What’s Your Line?

Many of you already have your minds made up as to which team you will be betting on this Super Bowl Sunday.

The oddsmakers at all of the major offshore sportsbooks are dealing the Eagles as 1.5-point neutral-site favorites. The best moneyline on the Chiefs is found at Heritage Sports dealing (+110) (visit our Heritage Sports Review) while BetAnySports (visit our BetAnySports Review) has the Eagles at (-123) as of this Monday morning writing.

Moneyline Action

If you are going to lay the points with the Eagles then you might as well eschew the point spread and spend an extra few pennies to get the small favorite on the Moneyline. After all, if this game does come down to the wire and the Eagles eke out a one-point win, how are you going to feel then?

Just think about it for a moment.

The Eagles are winning 24-23, and have second and 10 at the Chiefs' 23-yard line with under a minute to play. Kansas City has no timeouts and while you are begging for Philadelphia to do the unthinkable and kick a field goal to cover the spread. You’ve got a better chance of seeing Michael Vick trotting out on the field to relieve Jalen Hurts of the final few snaps of the game.

No, it won’t happen because the Eagles will harmlessly run out the clock at about the same time you become a viral sensation for getting caught on camera hurling your remote at your flatscreen.

That’s what you get for being a cheapskate. If you are going to bet on the Eagles, make sure you do so on the Moneyline over at BAS.

Point Spread Players

Just as we advised the Eagles bettors to play them on the Moneyline, we must be equally adamant about Kansas City bettors getting down with the small 1 ½ point head start.

We gave a prime example above of why it could be critical to bet Philly on the Moneyline and we will do the same for those leaning hard on KC.

If you’re getting even a small number of points then take them because the extra few bucks you will make on the Moneyline will be a forgotten memory should the Chiefs lose by a point.

Imagine the pain you will feel if the Chiefs fall by the score of 34-33. And guess what? These two teams are close enough in talent that the scenario described is perfectly conceivable.

You just don’t want to be the one wondering why you can’t turn back the clock and talk yourself out of betting the small dog on the Moneyline. If you like the Chiefs, grab the 1.5 points over at Heritage Sports.

Injuries Matter

Patrick Mahomes

Patrick Mahomes is still dealing with a high-ankle sprain he suffered in Kansas City’s 27-20 victory over the Jaguars. We could see him wince and hobble last week after throwing on the run.

You would never know Mahomes was ailing by the stats he put up which consisted of 29-of-43 passing for 326 yards with two touchdowns, and zero interceptions, in the Chiefs’ 23-20 victory over the Bengals.

When asked about the injury, Mahomes stated, “I just was generally sore. It was a physical game. I mean, my whole body was a little sore. I don’t think I had any step backwards or anything like that, no re-aggravation of the ankle. Just the general, little bit of pain I had playing.”

“But other than that, I feel like I’m in a good spot,” Mahomes added.

Jalen Hurts

On the flip side, Philadelphia’s signal-caller, Jalen Hurts, sprained his shoulder back in Week 15 and although he hasn’t had to break much of a sweat in the Eagles’ lopsided victories - a 38-7 win over the Giants followed by a 31-7 decision over the 39ers - you get the feeling he’s still feeling the effects of the injury

Before the Eagles’ first playoff game against their divisional rivals, the New York Giants, he was asked if he felt he might be targeted due to his injury and Hurts replied, "It's football. I've got a bounty on me every week I go out there on the field. Gonna go out there and just play my game. Whatever happens, happens."

After the Eagles eliminated the 49ers the following week, Hurts admitted he was still not 100 percent when he stated, “I’m getting there. I’ve made it clear this whole time it’s something I’m dealing with.”
