FanDuel Sports Network announced a partnership agreement with VSiN, the same company that its chief competitor, DraftKings, bought and sold back to its founders.
Media Influence
Unlike DraftKings, a sports betting platform that is looking to reprioritize its marketing budget by selling VSiN, FanDuel is seeking more sports betting content for its regional sports networks and its app. Two of the industry’s powerhouses are moving in different directions.
In addition to partnerships with The Ringer and broadcasting through its RSNs, FanDuel announced last week that it is adding content from VSiN to its lineup, and VSiN’s new morning show, By the Books, will begin airing on Monday through Friday on the FanDuel Sports Network app and across nine of its regional affiliates. However, it will not be aired on FanDuel TV.
VSiN produces 18 hours of weekly content, which will be a welcome addition to FanDuel’s broadcasting efforts with football on the horizon.
FanDuel has long sought ways to connect with the mainstream audience that may not be signed up with the company as a betting option. However, enough programming aimed at its target audience will ultimately make it a familiar and comfortable option when it comes to sports betting or iGaming.
DraftKings Spurns VSiN
They say one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. The same can be said for corporations, as DraftKings scooped up VSiN for $70 million in 2021 but sold it back to its cofounders, Brian Musburger and Bill Adee, for an undisclosed amount in July 2024. And its chief rival was only too happy to partner with the same company a year later.
Longtime CBS sports announcer Brent Musburger is a former sports broadcaster and a well-known contributor to VSiN and is the uncle of Brian Musburger, who, along with partner Bill Adee, launched VSiN back in 2017 through Musburger Media.
“While a lot has changed in the sports betting industry over the past three-and-a-half years, our original vision for VSiN still holds, and we are committed to delivering the most credible, independent information and analysis sports bettors can find anywhere,” said founder Brian Musburger in a prepared statement.
