The Lakers are one of the hottest teams in the NBA right now and nobody’s going to want to face them in the first round. But to be sure they qualify, the Lakers are going to have to finish this week strong. The Lakers are 40-38 which puts them a half-game behind both the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Clippers, who are 41-38. The Lakers are currently tied with the New Orleans Pelicans for the 7th spot in the West.
The Utah Jazz are 36-42 and look to be giving up on this season. The Jazz came out hot, but losing six of their last seven games has effectively pushed them out of the playoff hunt. Technically, the Jazz are still alive. They are 1.5 games behind 10th place Oklahoma City Thunder, yet they are also behind the Dallas Mavericks which puts them in 12th place.
The Jazz have shut down most of their veterans and are trying to develop players such as former Lakers guard Talen Horton-Tucker. Horton-Tucker has scored 101 points in the last three games combined.

The Lakers have won three straight and six of the last seven games. Their most recent outing was a 134-109 win over the Houston Rockets. In that game, Anthony Davis scored 40 points for the Lakers.

The Nuggets’ most recent game was a 112-110 win over the defending champion Golden State Warriors. It was the Nuggets’ third straight game without star MVP candidate Nikola Jokic. Jokic will most likely miss tonight’s game.
The Rockets have had a disappointing season at 19-60. The Rockets will be drafting at the top of the lottery this year. The team members are still auditioning for a place in the new hierarchy of the Rockets. They will be adding a player we presume will be a franchise-changing player in this year’s loaded draft class.
