NBA Pick: Timberwolves to Win Division (+700) at BetOnline (visit our BetOnline Review)

There are so many teams improving in the Northwest Division. Can one of the four other teams, not named the Nuggets, win the division this year? Let’s take a look at the NBA odds and find out.
NBA Northwest Division Preview
The Northwest Division has a lot of young talent, but only a few teams will compete for the division.
The Nuggets are certainly the favorites. They’re coming off an NBA Finals Championship, but that team has lost some big pieces, including Bruce Brown, who gave the Nuggets some incredible minutes last season.
If anything, the Minnesota Timberwolves have enough talent to win the division. They just haven’t been healthy and also haven’t clicked enough. However, it could be wise to select the Timberwolves to win the Division, knowing how much talent the group has.
Let’s talk about it below.
Denver Nuggets
- Nuggets Over 53½ Wins (-115) at BetOnline
The Denver Nuggets still have their core. Jamal Murray is at point guard, Michael Porter Jr. is playing small forward, Aaron Gordon is at power forward, and former MVP Nikola Jokic is at center. However, the depth is weak.
The three bench pieces are Reggie Jackson, Christian Braun, and DeAndre Jordan. Maybe Justin Holiday and Vlatko Cancar get some run, but beyond those guys, it’ll be up to the young guys to impress and earn minutes.
I’ve gone back and forth with this group, but as long as the starting lineup stays healthy, the Nuggets will crank out at least 54 wins.
Minnesota Timberwolves
- Timberwolves Over 44½ Wins (-110) at BetOnline
I like the Timberwolves. They can surprise this year.
They’ll have Mike Conley at guard and Anthony Edwards, who should turn into a top-five star this year. Meanwhile, Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert are healthy coming into the season. They’ll all start along with Jaden McDaniels.
This team also has some solid depth. Naz Reid showcased a lot last season, and Kyle Anderson can play any position. He’s super versatile. This team also has Shake Milton coming off the bench, along with Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Troy Brown.
If things fall into place, this team will compete for a Championship. I’m just saying.
Oklahoma City Thunder
- Thunder Over 44½ Wins (+100) at BetOnline
The Thunder are the most intriguing team in the NBA this season. They drafted Chet Holmgren last year, but he didn’t play in a single game. Yet, the Thunder still found a way into the playoffs.
This team looks sensational with Josh Giddey, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Lu Dort, Jalen Williams, and Chet Holmgren. It’s a team that is filled with talent.
It’s unlikely that Gilgeous-Alexander will lead this team into the NBA Finals, but with the addition of Cason Wallace and the growth of Ousmane Dieng, along with Jaylin Williams, Isaiah Joe, Tre Mann, and the new addition of Victor Oladipo, they’ll make the playoffs and win plenty of games thanks to their depth.
Utah Jazz
- Jazz Over 35½ Wins (-110) at BetOnline
Last season, the Jazz traded away Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert for absolute hauls. It paid off as the Jazz overachieved last season, with Lauri Markkanen leading the way.
This team has a lot of potential. They added John Collins and have young pieces like Walker Kessler and Ochai Agbaji that can play a major role this season. Collin Sexton and Kris Dunn will be a major part of this team at the guard position, along with one of the top scorers, Jordan Clarkson.
They’ve also added Keyonte George, Brice Sensabaugh, and Taylor Hendricks to the NBA Draft. Therefore, I’ve got them going Over 35.5 wins at one of our best sportsbooks.
Portland Trail Blazers
- Blazers Over 28½ Wins (-120) at BetOnline
The Portland Trail Blazers just traded away Damian Lillard for a major haul, but it’s still hard to see this team competing at a high level.
The new-look Blazers have Malcolm Brogdon, DeAndre Ayton, and Robert Williams. Nevertheless, it’s unlikely that the Blazers will play Ayton and Williams simultaneously. They’ve got Jerami Grant signed to a long-term deal and added Scoot Henderson in the NBA Draft, along with Rayan Rupert and Kris Murray.
There’s potential with the Blazers, but another year or two to develop might be the better outcome.
Northwest Division Winner
The Nuggets are the clear favorites to win the division, but at -475, there’s no point in taking that bet. There’s no value there, especially when the division has a few teams with much more potential coming into the season.
Minnesota has a reliable starting five. They’ve also got a bench that has depth. They complement each other well.
In light of these NBA predictions, I’d take the Timberwolves at +700 to surprise and win the Northwest Division.
