The Atlantic Division has many sleepers and potential NBA Champions in its division. The Celtics are the clear favorites to win the Atlantic Division, but will the NBA odds favor them?

NBA Atlantic Division Preview

The Atlantic Division has the Boston Celtics, the Philadelphia 76ers, the New York Knicks, the Brooklyn Nets, and the Toronto Raptors.

The Celtics and 76ers have been at the top of the standings over the last couple of seasons. However, the Knicks are inching closer, while the 76ers could take a step back in the division this season.

Let’s break down the Atlantic Division below and provide the best bets for each win total for Atlantic teams this season at the NBA futures market.

Boston Celtics

The Celtics will be weird without Marcus Smart, but they landed Kristaps Porzingis, who should be a great piece to the puzzle with Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. Porzingis just needs to stay healthy.

The starting lineup will likely be Malcolm Brogdon, Derrick White, Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum, and Kristaps Porzingis. Or the Celtics can go bigger with Al Horford and take Derrick White off the bench. Those flexible options should help the Celtics progress over time.

I’ll take them to get Over 54½ wins.

Philadelphia 76ers

It’s unclear what will happen with James Harden. He’s requested out, but for now, he’s on the roster and the point guard of this team.

The 76ers don’t have much depth, but they would have more depth to play with if they traded Harden.

Still, a team run by Tyrese Maxey, Tobias Harris, and Joel Embiid doesn’t move the needle for me. Embiid is an incredible talent, but he’ll have no help.

Take the Under at our offshore sportsbooks.

New York Knicks

The Knicks have improved the roster over the last few years. They’re in contention mode now.

The starting lineup is stable, with Jalen Brunson, Quentin Grimes, R.J. Barrett, Julius Randle, and Mitchell Robinson. Immanuel Quickley will get a new contract shortly. Plus, the Knicks added depth with Donte DiVincenzo and Josh Hart.

I’ve got the Knicks placing second in the division. Take the Over.

Brooklyn Nets

The Nets aren’t in rebuild mode, but just a few years ago, this team had James Harden, Kyrie Irving, and Kevin Durant.

The team isn’t the same without those guys. Still, Mikal Bridges will be a quality leader, and it sounds like Ben Simmons is trying to work his way back this year.

I’ll give Brooklyn the benefit of the doubt.

Toronto Raptors

The Raptors no longer have Fred VanVleet, but they added Dennis Schroder, who could be even better for the Raptors this year. Schroder has been playing his tail off in the FIBA World Cup, and he’ll have a solid supporting cast with Scottie Barnes, OG Anunoby, Pascal Siakam, and Jakob Poeltl. I’ve seen way less talent win plenty of games.

Toronto even has Gary Trent Jr. coming off the bench and Gradey Dick, who was a first-round selection. Dick could even potentially start for this team if the Raptors want.

Let’s take the Raptors to fly Over their total at 36.5.

Atlantic Division Winner

The Atlantic Division might surprise this year. The Celtics are certainly the clear favorites, but the Knicks, Nets, and Raptors are all underdog teams with much potential moving forward.

The Knicks are in win-now mode with a ton of high-quality talent. Meanwhile, the Nets are out trying to prove that they can win games with Mikal Bridges, Spencer Dinwiddie, and Cam Johnson. On the other hand, the Raptors are likely one of the most underappreciated teams in the league, but that roster has a lot of skill and potential to do damage this year.

The 76ers will likely take a step back if they lose the battle with Harden to keep him in Philadelphia, but his absence will likely help the team in the long run.

Still, the Celtics will run the division like they have in the past. Boston’s addition of Porzingis was shocking but also fabulous. If Porzingis is healthy, the Celtics will be extremely fun to watch and they’ll also win a lot of games.
